Conditional formatting? highlight a cell based on current time
- Dec 16, 2021
Let's say the times are in H2:H20.
Select this range. H2 should be the active cell in the selection.
On the Home tab of the ribbon, select Conditional Formatting > New Rule...
Select 'Use a formula to detemine which cells to format'.
Enter the formula
=HOUR(H2)=HOUR(NOW())
(Remember, H2 is the active cell in the selection).
Click Format...
Activate the Fill tab.
Select a highlight color.
Click OK, then click OK again.
Hi all,
I have created a digi clock on an excel sheet and am trying to work out the conditioning formatting to change the cell colour if the time passes. e.g if the departure time is 12:00 then the cell D15 changes red at 12:01 (my digi clock is set up HH:MM:SS)

Select D15.

Select 'Format only cells that contain'.
Leave the first drop down set to 'Cell Value'.
Select 'greater than' from the second drop down.
In the box next to it, enter the formula=$A$1
Click Format...
Activate the Fill tab.
Select red as fill color.
Click OK, then click OK again.
