Commands in Customized Ribbon Tab Keeps Disappearing
Hello. I created a Customized Ribbon tab in Excel 365 to put Power Query functions all in one place and while the tab that i created still shows, the commands that i add to it keep disappearing. This has happened 3 or 4 times now

Please consider below for next action:
- Excel Profile Sync Conflicts
- If you're signed into Excel with a Microsoft 365 account, your ribbon customizations may be syncing inconsistently across devices or profiles.
- Corrupted customUI Settings
- Sometimes the XML or registry entries that store ribbon customizations get corrupted or overwritten.
- Add-in Conflicts
- Certain add-ins (especially COM add-ins) can reset or override ribbon settings.
This issue where your custom ribbon tab remains visible but the commands inside it keep disappearing is likely due to Excel resetting or not properly saving the customization. Here’s what you can try to resolve it:
First, make sure you are exporting your ribbon customization after setting it up. Go to File > Options > Customize Ribbon, and after setting everything up, click Import/Export at the bottom right and choose Export all customizations. This creates a backup you can quickly reload if Excel removes your commands again.
Also, check if any Excel add-ins, updates, or profile syncs (especially if you use OneDrive or roaming profiles) might be overwriting or resetting your UI settings.
If this keeps happening after system restarts or updates, try running Excel in Safe Mode (Excel /safe) and see if the issue persists. If not, an add-in might be causing the reset.

Hello, thank you for the reply. I don't think any of the possible causes you mention apply to my case - i am not using multiple devices, add-ins, profile synchs, etc. I just re-started my computer after setting up the custom tab again and the commands disappeared again. But i was able to Export the customization as you suggested and then import them again after they disappeared. Thank you for that suggestion.
