Colourising the result of an IF function

Is there a way changing the text or cell fill, in response to the test; if x<y then cell colour Green, if this is not the case then text or cell colour Red.

I am not an Excel expert!

    yes,
use conditional formatting to do so
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/use-conditional-formatting-to-highlight-information-fed60dfa-1d3f-4e13-9ecb-f1951ff89d7f

go to home>> under style tab>> conditional formatting>> select new rule

formatting cell will make colors you need
