Cant open .xlsx files stored in Dropbox

Hi

I am trying to open some Excel files that I have stored in Dropbox - however I get

Excel cannot open the file '.....xlsx' because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matched the format of the file.

    Can you copy it to your local drive and open it from your local drive?

    If you can copy it to your local drive and the have trouble opening the workbook, try "Open and Repair" from the Open button:

    If not, that is why we have backups 🙂

      Thanks so much for your reply.  I soon found that I had other types of files I couldnt open in Dropbox so ended up doing a basic reinstall - all fixed now
