Cannot open Excel files after upgrading to Windows 11
BrunoBaronet Please help a computor illiterate and cut the mumbo jumbo. Fact one no choice but to go to Windows 11 ! (: (: (: Fact two have Excel files that will need to access. Fact three 1 plus 1 does not equal 3 so how can I have Win 11 and use Excel at the same time ? Does Einstein have a solution ???????

Answer 1: Windows 10 or 11, doesn't matter, I have now found this problem on both versions.
Answer 2: This solution applies to Excel, Word and Powerpoint as far as I can tell, so I would apply this solution to all 3 software.
Answer 3: 1+1=2. Windows 11 is the Operating System, Excel is a software running on it. Both can and are used at the same time. Excel is part of "Office", which also contain Word, Powerpoint, Outlook and more. Both Windows and Office are made by the same company: Microsoft.
Answer 4: I don't know if Einstein knew anything about the Windows environment, we would have to setup a séance and ask him.
If you could tell me what your actual problem is, I will try and help you.

BrunoBaronet Mr. Baronet, I currently have Win10. All reports indicate I should upgrade to Win 11. There are also reports that Excel does not work in Win 11. If I go to Win 11 how will I be able to continue to use excel or will I just forget I had spreadsheets ? So do I stay with Win 10 and flounder when I lose support or go to WIN 11 and forget Excel ?
Thank you for your wisdom & expertise.

- BrunoBaronetSep 25, 2024Copper ContributorPersonally I would recommend staying with Windows 10 as long as possible but if you decide to upgrade to Windows 11, Excel and all other "Office" products will continue to work without any problems as long as you have at least version 2016 of Office or Excel.
On Windows 10, you can use Office 2013, 2016, 2019, 2021 and 365
On Windows 11, Office 2016, 2019, 2021 and 365 are fully compatible.
One important setting to check to make sure all your Office software (including Excel) keep functioning properly, is found in "Windows Update" Settings. In the "Windows Update" windows, scroll down and click on "Advanced options", then under "Update options" turn on "Receive updates for other Microsoft products when you update Windows". This will ensure that your Office software updates automatically.- jmhubbard315Sep 25, 2024Copper ContributorWOW ! Move over Einstein BRUNO is in charge !
