Can Excel VBA control Outlook?

Hi All,

Apologies if this is a crazy question. Can Excel VBA interact with Outlook. Eg could an Excel macro Open Outlook, Find a Folder and select an email based on a date?

Assuming it could, if you knew that this email would always have an attachment could you then program it to save the attachment(s) to a folder on the desktop?

Many thanks in advance for any replies

Cheers

Jon

Here is a file with a simple solution. This could be developed further, but I'll leave that to you 🙂

Please note the VBA execution options (or not) in Office 365.

I would be happy to know if I could help.

      Hi Nikolino,

Many thanks for your quick reply I really appreciate it. I dont think I explained terribly well what I meant, apologies for that!

What I meant was I will receive an email from a work server to my outlook email account. This email will contain a pdf attachement. What I would like an Excel macro to do is :

      1 Go into Outlook

2 Find this email that I have received from work server

3 Grab the attachment from this email

4 put the attachment into a folder on my desktop (outside of Outlook)

      Thanks

      Jon

In order to get further in your project, I recommend this page to you. It helped me a lot to automatically send PDF forms via Outlook. It shows different possibilities that could be used.
