automatically add a picture, linked to product reference

Hi all,

 

I have a 'basic' file where I enter a product reference in the 1st cell and the following cells are updated with vlookup etc.

 

In order to make it client friendly, I insert product pictures manually.

 

Is there a way to also do this automatically ?

    Hi Fabian,

     

    You could, but not without some extensive VBA, since an image sits above the grid, and doesn't have a physical association with the product reference row, other than where you explicitly place it. To start, you'd have to tie the image name to the product ID, then find the product ID on the sheet and place the image. You can so that with the TopLeftCell method, but if anyone sorts the sheet, your images can get scrambled.

     

    If you're maintaining a product list, I'd consider using Access, which has an attachment field that you can use to add image(s) to each product. You can then use a report to display product details and images. Believe me, I love Excel, but it's a lot easier to go with Access in a situation like this.
