Auto Refresh Pivot Tables

The other day after an update the Auto Refresh option disappeared, does anyone know why?

Thanks, Steve F

  • Below may be the reasons:

    •     Feature relocation or UI change: Microsoft occasionally reorganizes features in the ribbon or settings. The Auto Refresh checkbox might have been moved from its usual spot in PivotTable Options.
    •     Update glitch or bug: As some cases, after certain updates, the Auto Refresh setting becomes temporarily unavailable or hidden.
    •     Workbook or data source changes: If your Pivot Table is linked to a different data source (like Power Query or external connections), the refresh behavior might be governed by connection properties instead.
    •     Disabled setting: The “Refresh data when opening the file” option might have been unchecked during the update. You can re-enable it by:
    •     Right-clicking the Pivot Table → PivotTable Options → Data tab → Check “Refresh data when opening the file”.
