Added Images Not Displaying on new Laptop
Hello. I have a spreadsheet that I have been using for many years. The page that the sheet opens to has hyperlinks to other pages in the document. I recently upgraded my laptop and installed the newest version of Excel.
My problem is that the images I added to the "home" page, which I have the hyperlinks connected to, no longer work. They show up as a blank image, with a red X in the corner. If I remove the hyperlink, the image returns. However, once I set a new hyperlink, save, and close the document, and open it again, the image is gone. I have tried replacing the images with new stock images with the same results. Every time I open Excel, all of the images are gone. I use the images as a visual reference to the page it's connected to. ie. bank records have a $ image, passwords have a ? image, business info has my logo, etc. All of the hyperlinks still work fine.
Image is a screenshot of images not working, with 2 restored without hyperlinks.
It is an xlsm file. The old laptop had Excel 2020, new Laptop has Excel 2023.
Old laptop was Windows 10, current is Windows 11
Any suggestions on keeping the images as intended?

Welcome to your Excel discussion space!
If I may recommend, with your permission, add additional and more detailed information about your digital environment. Excel version in the new laptop and in the previously used PC, operating system of the new laptop and previously used PC, storage medium before and after, file ending .xls or xlsx or xlsm...
At the same time it would also help if you could insert some photos or the file (without sensitive data). A more detailed description of the topic would lead to several suggested solutions.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:
- Check Hyperlink Settings:
- Open the Excel file on your new laptop.
- Right-click on one of the images with a hyperlink.
- Select "Edit Hyperlink."
- Ensure that the hyperlink URL or location is correctly set to the target page within the same workbook.
- Click "OK" to confirm the hyperlink settings.
- Check Security Settings:
- Excel may have stricter security settings in newer versions. Go to "File" > "Options" > "Trust Center" > "Trust Center Settings."
- Under "Macro Settings," ensure that "Enable all macros" or "Enable all macros (not recommended; potentially dangerous code can run)" is selected. This can help if your workbook uses macros.
- Under "External Content," ensure that "Enable all data connections (not recommended)" is selected.
- Under "Privacy Options," ensure that "Warn before opening a file that contains macros" is not checked.
- Click "OK" to save the settings.
- Recreate the Hyperlinks:
- Delete the existing hyperlinks by right-clicking on the images and choosing "Remove Hyperlink."
- Recreate the hyperlinks by right-clicking on the images, selecting "Hyperlink," and setting the target location within the workbook.
- Ensure Images Are Embedded:
- Confirm that the images are embedded in the workbook and not linked to external files. This can help avoid issues with image display.
- To embed an image, go to "Insert" > "Pictures," select the image, and click "Insert."
- Try Compatibility Mode:
- If the issue persists, you can try opening the file in Excel 2023 in compatibility mode. To do this, open Excel, go to "File" > "Open," select your file, and choose "Open in Compatibility Mode" if available.
- Update Office and Windows:
- Ensure that both your Office suite (Excel) and Windows are up-to-date with the latest updates and patches. Sometimes, issues with compatibility are resolved through updates.
- Test on a Different Computer:
- If possible, try opening the same Excel file on a different computer with Excel 2023 to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if it is specific to your new laptop.
- Repair Office Installation:
- If none of the above steps work, you can try repairing your Office installation. Go to "Control Panel" > "Programs" > "Programs and Features," select "Microsoft Office," and choose "Repair."
By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issues with images and hyperlinks in your Excel file. The text was created with the help of AI.
