Excel lagging and jumping while scrolling can be a frustrating issue. There are several potential causes for this behavior, and here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem:

    1. Update Excel and Office: Ensure that you have the latest version of Microsoft Excel and Office 365 installed. Updates often include performance improvements and bug fixes.
    2. Disable Hardware Graphics Acceleration: Sometimes, hardware graphics acceleration can cause issues. To disable it, follow these steps:
      • Open Excel and go to "File" > "Options."
      • In the Excel Options window, select "Advanced."
      • Scroll down to the "Display" section and check the box for "Disable hardware graphics acceleration."
      • Click "OK" to save the settings and restart Excel.
    3. Check for Add-ins: Third-party add-ins can also cause performance issues. Try disabling or removing any unnecessary add-ins to see if it improves scrolling performance.
      • Go to "File" > "Options."
      • In the Excel Options window, select "Add-Ins."
      • Check the list of add-ins and disable any that you don't need.
      • Click "OK" to save the settings and restart Excel.
    4. Clear Clipboard: A large clipboard can slow down Excel. Clear the clipboard to free up resources by copying a small amount of data to the clipboard (e.g., a single cell) and pasting it elsewhere.
    5. Check File Size: Large file sizes with many complex formulas, conditional formatting, or data connections can impact performance. Try to reduce file size by removing unnecessary elements.
    6. Check for External Links: External links to other workbooks can cause delays. Check for and remove any unnecessary external links.
    7. Repair Office Installation: If the issue persists, you can try repairing your Office installation:
      • Go to "Control Panel" > "Programs" > "Programs and Features."
      • Find "Microsoft Office 365" in the list, right-click it, and select "Change."
      • In the Office Repair dialog, select "Online Repair" and click "Repair."
      • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the repair process.
    8. Check for Resource Usage: Check your computer's resource usage (CPU, memory, disk) while Excel is running. If any of these resources are being heavily used, it could be a sign of performance issues.
