Re: Additional D365 Operations App Partner Sandbox Licenses
question to the Licensing Concierge:
we are running the Operations / F&O Partner Sandbox and need to move it to another Azure tenant; can you help you to do this? support, sandbox partner support etc. could not help
everybody refers my to "ask your partner".. but we are the partner š and it is a partner sandbox (other guidance refers to CSP or Volume)
we cannot cancel the subscription as it is running another year until July 2024
your help appreciated
regards from Munich
- AndreasDutzCopper ContributorDear community, as there was no documentation I could find, I now just tried it out and moved the Sandbox from one tenant to another; here is my feedback from real experience
! this relates to Sandboxes purchased over https://experience.dynamics.com/requestlicense
- there is no "move scenario" for Partner Sandboxes from tenant A to tenant B
- you just deploy a new environment ("empty") over LCS (soon over PPAC) in your new tenant B
- good news: the licensing pdf says you only can cancel it yearly, but, other than described, when you cancel your existing licenses (again: this is about partner sandboxes, not CSP licenses, Volume or Commerce Direct), you get the licenses costs refunded prorated by day! So you donĀ“t have to pay double.
- you need to purchase new licenses in your new tenant B; there is no "license move" scenario for Partner Sandboxes
- you can (officially) run the 2 Sandboxes in A and B in parallel for 3 months, even the licenses for tenant A are already canceled; but you cannot add new users to the old scenario after ca.1 month; enough time to do export / inport over data packages
- then work with your new Partner Sandbox in Tenant B - LicensingConcierge1Microsoft
Hi AndreasDutz
While I cannot provide tech support or confirm that the partner sandboxes were designed to be moved across tenants, I can confirm that,
- the purpose of the Partner Sandbox Licenses is to enable the ability for partners to access non-production, sandbox environments where they can develop, test, and demo your solutions to customers.
- For D365 operations applications, once you have the license set up, this will entitle you to a Tier 2 Sandbox environment in the Lifecycle Services (LCS) project. Sign up for preview subscriptions - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn
- The documentation does not mention the ability to include moving these partner sandboxes across tenants, so I cannot confirm if this is allowed Sign up for preview subscriptions - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn
If after reviewing the information in the links & attachments provided, you still feel that you should be able to move the partner sandboxes, then my suggestion is that you reach out to: psandbox@microsoft.com for more information.
I hope this helps.

- AndreasDutzCopper Contributorthanks for the reply - looks like the sandbox was not designed for being moved or we are the first ones who want to do it; I had started my request journey at psandbox@.. but unfortunately they couldnĀ“t help either; the documentation does not cover this scenario.

I cannot speak to your response that psandbox@microsoft.com was not able to help, since you didn't state what you were told.
However, I can confirm that psandbox@microsoft.com is the correct team that you must contact to ask about moving the partner sandboxes since none of the documentation mentions this capability.
