D365 License Minimums - Attach Licenses

Hi!

I’ve been trying to confirm a rumor about EA license purchases: we’re told per-workload Attach licenses must meet minimum purchase requirement. This is contrary to license T&Cs and License Guides.

Ex: purchase 20 Finance, only need 5 SCM attach. We’re told customer is required to purchase Qty 20 SCM attach to meet 20 minimum per workload. I’ve yet to see any such update.

Any chance you can confirm?

I also had a call this morning with a MSFT Biz Apps resource who is working with a team to gain clarity on the above.  Sent this question above prior to my call.  I thought I'd try here as well.

The only change that I'm aware of is the ability for EA customers to mix-n-match their D365 F&O licenses to meet the minimum purchase requirements that was removed on 8/1/2023 (it was never an option for CSP). Existing customers will not be required to meet the new min. purchase requirement until their agreement renewal.  We’ll be making updates to the GLR materials shortly.

As Licensing Concierge, I do not have knowledge of anticipated changes, so I cannot speak to "rumors".  Some partner announcements are sent outside of Partner Center, so unfortunately, I do not have visibility to every announcement sent to partners, which is best to provide the link to your source when posting about announcements here on the partner community's.

As far as the attach licenses, I have the current LG to adhere to and per the current D365 LG (found in Partner Center), you may buy as many attach licenses as are available for that base license.

The D365 LG outlines how they're purchased beginning on pg.4:

Don't think this really answers the question here. It's clear that the mix & match option for EAs is not possible anymore. Meaning if a customer needed 10 finance and 10 SCM, they can't purchase 10+10 Base licenses anymore to meet the minimum purchase requirement (by mix & matching both workloads). But this only applies on Base licenses.

The question stated is regarding Attach licenses. The T&C states that there's no minimum purchase requirement for Attach licenses. Or has this been changed as well?

I believe the customer can still purchase 20 finance Base + 5 SCM Attach to meet the minimum purchase requirement, as the T&C states.

      Dear Licensing Concierge,@LicensingConcierge1,

I see Martijn was pointing out the remaining part of the question which as I see was not answered. I would like to get back also to it as currently per product terms or licensing guides is still not very clear if you are allowed to add less attach licenses to qualifying base product than a minimum requirement existing for that particular sku. What do I mean by that is- lets take 20 Finance Full Users requiring to add Dynamics 365 Commerce functionality (which as a base does require minimum of 20 users). In such case will reseller/ customer be able to start implementation project for both workloads if they order 20 Finance as a Base + 1 Commerce attach?

In my previous reply, I referenced the D365 LG (Licensing Guide) & I provided the following snapshot.
