OSE is by operating system.
Yes, trying to find out if there are any requirements in licensing Endpoint Config Manager by Operating system or by user in an OVS Agreement. Can it be licensed by actual users or operating system or does it need to be licensed at FTE count? Thank you!

Aug 10, 2023Hello Jennie_Maier
Thank you for your patience.
- Starting with Configuration Manager version 2303 Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager is now Microsoft Configuration Manager. What's new in version 2303 - Configuration Manager | Microsoft Learn
- Configuration Manager is included in the following plans:
- Intune user subscription license (USL)
- EMS E3
- EMS E5
- Microsoft 365 E3
- Microsoft 365 E5
- Microsoft 365 F3 (formerly Microsoft 365 F1)
3. Existing customers must have SA. Customers buying new licenses for Configuration Manager must acquire L&SA (the license and SA coverage). Product and licensing FAQ - Configuration Manager | Microsoft Learn

- Jennie_MaierAug 11, 2023Brass ContributorHello, this question has to do with an onprem Open Value Subscription Agreement (not Cloud). With an OVS Agreement, some products have to be quoted/ordered by full-time equivalency count. I'm trying to find out if Configuration Manager licenses have to be quoted/ordered by FTE count or can we use actual number of users or operating systems needing it? This can be ordered by user or by operating system.

Hi Jennie_Maier
hmmm...I did not see where OnPrem & Online make a difference in this scenario.
As mentioned, Configuration Manager is a part of the (6) products listed in the snapshot below:
Therefore, you would purchase the EMS, M365, or Intune product the same as always, and Configuration Manager is included...it's not a separate license/product. Please carefully review the information in my previous reply.
Note: If you are a Reseller, please contact your Indirect Provider for assistance.

- Jennie_MaierAug 11, 2023Brass ContributorHi, it can be purchased as a standalone license through a OVS-ES agreement (school agreement) which is an onprem license, so the Cloud licenses you mentioned would not apply to this scenario. The skus options include two license choices:

Endpoint Configuration Manager ALng LSA OLV E 1Y Acad Ent Per OSE
OR
J5A-01180
