Question about profiles with FS Logix
Hi,
We have been using AVD for some time now but we have been experiencing some inconsistencies with the way profiles are created and managed on the session hosts.
Originally when a user logged in they would have the "roaming" profile copied to C:\Users\username and have another temporary folder C:\Users\local_username created. Upon logout the "local_username" folder is removed.
I have another server in the host pool where no "local_username" folder is created, but the C:\Users\username remains. Everything seems to work ok though.
I have introduced a new server into the pool ( due to Teams issues on a previous host ) , built from a MS supplied AVD image. For this server the C:\Users\username folder is created and removed on each login. As a result we have slow logins as the profile is copied back and forth upon every login.
My question is what it the correct behaviour and am I misconfiguring FSLogix somehow for the newly introduced session host ?
- BryanNickellCopper ContributorCheck your FSlogix profile settings on the new host and make sure they match the old hosts. use the FSlogix RedirXMLSourceFolder for teams if the image didn't have it configured.

Thanks for your reply.
I had already checked settings on the old an new hosts match.
Further investigation has found that the C:\Users\username and C:\User\local_username profile folders are created and removed upon every login.
The C:\Users\username stays put if users don't logoff properly. If we delete this then a new one is created with the aforementioned scenario.
I guess my question now is, is it normal for the profiles to be download and recreated upon every login on a session host ( thus copying several gigs worth of data ) , or should a local copy of the profile persist and then synched upon login and logoff.
This is how it used to work with our previous on-prem Remote Desktop Services setup.
There doesn't seem to be any documentation of what the correct scenario is.
- BryanNickellCopper ContributorUse this link to make your profile settings. While not 100% what I do find is a nightly reboot helps as well. Pay close attention to the setting DeleteLocalProfileWhenVHDShouldApply
