Error viewing disposition reviews as a records management administrator

I have set up my account to be a records management administrator in order to view all disposition review items assigned to all users. The configurations I have put in place are:

  1. I added my account to the Records Management role group (which contains the Disposition Management role).
  2. I configured the Record Management setting to add a mail-enabled security group for disposition, of which my account is a member of

As a result, on the Purview Records Management Disposition page, I can now see the table with all the retention labels and the associated count. However, when I click on a specific retention label to view the Pending dispositions or the Disposed items, I obtain "No data available".

I can however see pending dispositions if it is specifically assigned to my user account.

Am I missing something? Thanks for the help!

  • I would double-check the Record Management Settings to ensure that a mail-enabled security group and your account have been added to that group. Only members of this group can see all dispositions (Not if you are just the group owner; you do not get access). Otherwise, by default, each person who accesses the Disposition page sees only items that they're assigned to review. In addition, if you want to view the content, you also need to be assigned the Content Explorer Content Viewer role. See Disposition of content | Microsoft Learn

  • How long has it been since you added the group? Perhaps it's just a matter of replication. Is your account direct member of the group or a member of a nested one?

It's been a few weeks since I added the group, and my account is a direct member of the group. Am I missing another configuration? I wonder if I need to create a ticket with Microsoft to investigate. It seems this has occurred for some in the past: https://support.nhs.net/2024/03/microsoft-365-alert-service-degradation-microsoft-365-suite-admins-may-be-unable-to-access-some-content-in-the-disposition-section-of-microsoft-purview-data-lifecycle-management/

      • Well there's not much you can do in terms of troubleshooting on this one, apart from adding/removing yourself from the group, or removing/readding the group in the settings (only doable via PowerShell). Opening a support ticket is the next logical step.
