Windows Admin Center 2410: cannot add computers
After a fresh installation of Windows Admin Center 2410, I cannot add any servers, clusters, PCs etc. WAC gives me "You can add this computer to your list of connections, but we can't confirm it's available" when I enter a computer name (either of FQDN or computer name alone). When I change to the Search Active Directory tab, I get: "We can’t search Active Directory because the Windows Admin Center computer isn’t joined to an Active Directory domain. It’s also possible that your account doesn’t have permission to read from Active Directory." The account I use is a domain admin, and the server running WAC is definitely joined to the AD DS. The server had the previous version of WAC installed where everything worked. Now, with the new version, that's no longer the case...ahinterlDec 18, 2024Brass Contributor7.9KViews10likes20CommentsWindows Admin Center needs a Group Policy Extension for GPMC
That's one of the important things that is missing in WAC 1907. even if not as part of the main features, make it available as an extension to optionally install it whoever needs it. Then, Microsoft can expect people to move from RSAT to the new WAC.16KViews6likes4CommentsWindows Admin Center version 2110.2 generally available!

In this release, we have made improvements across the product with new support for Azure Kubernetes Service on Azure Stack HCI. Note that this release is pronounced as “twenty oh-nine” in regard to this year and month, and not in reference to the year 2009. The Windows Admin Center 2410 (mg) has a completely different setup procedure, new cmdlets etc. But I am missing the documentation. Especially I want WindowsAuthentication getting to work. When I change the mode, the service crashes all the time. The best documentation, I could find was this blog entry: Windows Admin Center installation – old vs new | Going down the IT rabbit hole But I cannot believe, Microsoft is releasing a product without and docs.191Views4likes0CommentsNow Available: Windows Admin Center 1809.5 Insider Preview

When WAC is installed as the Gateway Service on a server it doesn't seem to be able to reach the internet via a locally configured proxy? I haven't tested connecting to Azure but the issue I have is I cannot connect to the Extensions feed and get this error: Feed is not available: 'https://slack-redir.net/link?url=https%3A%2F%2Faka.ms%2Fsme-extension-feed'. I tried configuring a machine proxy as well as in my local profile, but that also didn't work. In the end the only way I could get WAC to work via a proxy was to configure the proxy on the Network Service account that the WAC Gateway Service runs under (by default). Then WAC was able to connect to the Extensions feed. Obviously this is not ideal and so I am wondering if we could have a way of configuring proxy settings in the Settings section within WAC in future? Or will this not be supported for some reason? Or should we run the WAC Gateway Service under a different account (e.g. gmsa) and set the proxy on that? Hello Really hoping someone can help, I have found similiar posts but they are much older and usually resolution has been to update Storage Migration Extension (I am using 4.1.0) I am receiving Error 36890 and gets stuck at loading once I reach the start the transfer stage (more details below) Source Server is 2008 R2 and Destination is Server 2022 Standard, Current server is a DC but my understanding is I will need to demote before we start the cutover? (I did also remove AD and it didnt make any difference, so have restored AD/DC as I had to abort the migration) Thanks in advance 02/03/2024-09:10:21.994 [Erro] GetTransferDeviceState request failed for job=Test error=36890: ErrorCode: 36890, Transfer was not run at Microsoft.StorageMigration.Service.StorageMigrationService.GetTransferDeviceState(String jobName, Int32 maxCount, Byte[] nextToken) [d:\os\src\base\dms\service\StorageMigrationService.ITransfer.cs::GetTransferDeviceState::2187] 02/03/2024-09:10:21.995 [Erro] ExceptionMessage : (Transfer was not run), ExceptionToString: (ErrorCode: 36890, Transfer was not run at Microsoft.StorageMigration.Service.StorageMigrationService.GetTransferDeviceState(String jobName, Int32 maxCount, Byte[] nextToken) at SyncInvokeGetTransferDeviceState(Object , Object[] , Object[] ) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.SyncMethodInvoker.Invoke(Object instance, Object[] inputs, Object[]& outputs) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.DispatchOperationRuntime.InvokeBegin(MessageRpc& rpc) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.ImmutableDispatchRuntime.ProcessMessage5(MessageRpc& rpc) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.ImmutableDispatchRuntime.ProcessMessage11(MessageRpc& rpc) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.MessageRpc.Process(Boolean isOperationContextSet)) [d:\os\src\base\dms\service\ErrorHandlerBehaviorAttribute.cs::HandleError::37]SolvedWhytey88Feb 03, 2024Copper Contributor3.4KViews3likes25Comments
