Turn off ability to create teams
Hi all, From a safeguarding and child protection point of view, in a school environment, it is not appropriate to allow students or staff to create new teams. Can the ability to disable team creation please be added? Unfortunately the powershell options to disable teams/O365 groups requires you to have Azure AD Premium, which many peopl including ourselves do not have. The UI option in Azure AD to stop users creating security/O365 groups, even when set to No, does not work. Students are still able to create Teams, and the fear is that this could be used for bullying purposes. Our senior child protection officer will not allow Teams to be sued until the ability to stop users from creating Teams is turned off. Only admins should be able to create Teams/O365 groups. Feel free to add weight to uservoice - https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/35505892-disable-team-creation Thanks.SolvedAyaz YounisSep 24, 2018Brass Contributor156KViews0likes15CommentsTeams Vs Moodle Vs Google Classroom?
I work at a school and Ms Teams for Education is definitely a viable option for providing blended learning. I would like to hear more from tertiary institutions. Do you think that Ms Teams is a viable replacement for Moodle? What would you consider as pro's and con's? I know of an institution that would like to start a new private university and they were considering their options for an LMS. So far they are favoring Moodle due to its maturity, rich features and customizability. While we are on the topic, how would Teams compare with Google Classroom, especially after the new features that are being rolled out? Has anybody moved from Google Classroom to Teams for Education? I don't seem to find a creditable comparison anywhere - especially not a recent one.SolvedMariusPretoriusJul 16, 2018Iron Contributor75KViews3likes18CommentsMicrosoft Teams Assignments and SharePoint Documents
SharePoint and Assignments You probably know that documents that students upload to Assignments are stored in SharePoint. You can open that location in SharePoint Online, by going to the Files tab of the relevant team and choosing "Open in SharePoint". You then need to navigate to Site Contents and Student Work. You will see there are two folders: Submitted files and Working files. In each of these is a folder for every learner and in every learner folder is a folder per assignment. Syncing What I do, is I sync the Student Work folder to my device. It then appears as a folder structure in my File Explorer. I have the choice to either leave the documents in the cloud or make them available on my device. The difference between Submitted files and Working files is that when a student uploads a document to an Assignment, it goes into the Working files folder. The learner can still open it (in Teams Assignments or in SharePoint) and make changes. Once the student has clicked on the Turn In button, it is copied to the Submitted files folder and no longer allows any changes. User Scenario The User Scenario where this can be beneficial is as follows: Students can upload their documents to the Assignment even while it is a work in progress. During that time both the learner and the teacher can have access to the file and basically 'collaborate' on the document. This allows a teacher to make ongoing comments to the document to provide formative feedback. When the student is ready to submit he/she Turns In the document. Even after submission the teacher can still make comments on the document and the student can still open it and view the comments, but can no longer make changes. I have a research project that learners work on for the duration of the school year. They need ongoing input to keep them on the right track. I'm going to use the method I have outlined above to provide them with that feedback.MariusPretoriusNov 15, 2018Iron Contributor47KViews4likes10CommentsDisconnect Microsoft Teams calendar from Outlook calendar
I work with a group of 170 students and recently began using the calendar feature as a way to publish events for the group. Some of these events are applicable to all members. Some events are applicable to some members. I am now seeing all of these events on my outlook calendar, and I am sure our group is too. Is there a way to disconnect this Teams calendar from Outlook calendars?26KViews0likes4CommentsH5P Interactive Content Teams Integration
H5P has wonderful HTML5 interactive objects that bring delight to any digital content creating teacher's heart. With many educators committing to Ms Teams for blended learning delivery, the challenge is how can one bring this content into Ms Teams? Now for some good news/bad news. Microsoft has just announced that it is now possible to embed H5P interactive content right into OneNote. Unfortunately, this is only possible using content which is hosted on H5P.com (related to H5P.org) which is a paid SaaS (Software as a Service) platform. The yearly amount is not trivial (starting at $570 for three authors) and for many would be a hurdle too high. However, there is a way to integrate H5P content hosted on your own WordPress or Drupal (CMS) H5P enabled site, with Ms Teams. A word of caution here: I'm not referring to WordPress sites that are hosted on WordPress.com. I'm referring to WordPress installations that are hosted by Web hosting companies such as Bluehost. You may already have such a site or you could sign up to a web hosting company and create one. The cost will be much less than $570 per annum. The way to integrate self hosted H5P content is to embed it on a SharePoint page as an Embed web part. There are a couple of settings that you need to change to make this to work. The best (and easiest) explanation I have found for making these settings is by Greg at the SharePoint Maven. I also changed the "Allow custom scripts" setting for my tenant. See my post here. Obviously this approach is based on the SharePoint integration with Ms Teams, where you can then add your SharePoint pages as tabs to your Teams channels. The upshot of all this is that it is possible to integrate the wonderful interactive content from H5P with Ms Teams!MariusPretoriusJan 08, 2021Iron Contributor23KViews4likes12CommentsDelay while screen sharing in Microsoft teams
Hi, while I am taking lecture and sharing my screen to student at that time if I move to the next slide or if I make annotation to the slide there is a delay in students screen. voice and visualization is not synced. So, is there any solution for this when I make annotation at the same time it should reflect on my students screen without any delay.KrunalpatelJul 05, 2020Copper Contributor23KViews0likes4CommentsTeacher Gradebook in Teams
Hi Guys, Is there any plans to integrate a teacher grade book into teams. It seams it should be easy to simply collate the data from the assignments to do this without teachers having to export each assignment grade to excel and do this manually. Hi, I am wondering if, like us, people are still waiting for the Class Materials folder to appear in their Teams Files area. It was announced at BETT back in January that this would be coming soon but, so far, it has not appeared for us. Is there something we should do to enable the feature or should it just appear? Many thanks for any advice CliveSolvedClive NortonMay 10, 2019Copper Contributor22KViews0likes10Comments
