Various groups within a course on Teams
Hiya We are currently starting to adopt Teams and working out the best way to set our classes. We are a college and therefore have instances where we may have various groups within a class. For example: Y1 Business Studies - Group 1 -Group 2 -Group 3 And so on...Initially we set one overarching course and then set the groups as private channels as we want to ensure each group can only access their group. This has caused a few issues as a private channel doesnt have the same functionality as a 'normal' channel and vice versa. Do we really need to create a separate Team per group? I am interested to see what others do!SolvedMayaBirchOct 28, 2021Copper Contributor1.4KViews0likes1Commentweird error with the chat
Hello, at the beginning of a class suddenly when the lesson started on the platform, several of my classmates, like me, could not write in the conversation/chat of a specific channel only, while in other channels we could write normally. the message it displayed said that the answers are limited. We told the teacher but she said she did not know why this is happening and generally I can not reply to any posts on this channel. do you know what happened suddenly and how it can be fixed? Thank you in advance!SolvedMARIA-IOANNA_ARABATZIMar 05, 2021Copper Contributor873Views0likes1CommentMeeting Recordings - Massive oversight?
We have enabled the new feature where meeting recordings are saved in OneDrive / Teams libraries, however it appears members have edit rights so students can just delete recorded lessons? Edit permissions on the recordings folder should be Owners of the team/meeting organiser only surely?SolvedRhys WilliamsFeb 02, 2021Iron Contributor715Views0likes1CommentMicrosoft Teams for sanctioned countries

Hi all, are you typically adding your students as Members or Guests in your Teams, and if the former, are you turning off any specific permissions? Also, what is the best way to set up a facility in Teams whereby each student (and the teacher(s)) has edit access to a particular document, but the student cannot see other students' documents? My plan would be to have an online Word doc function as an e-copybook, that students would update with any class writing, or assignments, and I as the teacher would be able to comment and correct the file. Would it be best to set up a folder for each student rather than a file? and can the permissions be set by the users or can it be automated (I want to avoid my having to create 100 folders/files and set the permissions on each one by one). Thanks NoelSolvedNoelFOct 14, 2020Copper Contributor4.4KViews0likes5CommentsHow to practice what students need to do (as an instructor)
I am just learning Teams for Education. I want to be able to see how a student submits an assignment, but can't get access to do that since I am by default an instructor. Is there a way for me to have a student role in a practice Team so I can practice what students need to do (e.g. submit an assignment) to be able to explain it better?SolvedEmily_D_11201Jul 28, 2020Copper Contributor1.1KViews0likes2CommentsCreate a SharePoint Course Page in Teams
Recently, thanks to Dr David Kellerman, I discovered how easy it is to build a SharePoint course page in Microsoft Teams. Well, actually you build it in SharePoint and add it as a tab to Teams. One of the gripes that teachers had with the Teams interface is that there is no way to organize your content e.g. posting work that has to be done. When you do that in a post - it quickly gets lost in the conversation. I'm aware that you can "pin" PowerPoints and all sorts of documents to your channel tabs - but somehow that is not quite what they looked for. Creating a quick SharePoint page for a particular channel is just what is needed to fill that gap. Here Dr Kellerman explains how to do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CniQZhpp83USolvedMariusPretoriusJul 20, 2020Steel Contributor5KViews3likes10CommentsAutomate the calendar sync from MIS to AD for education
