Customer has deployed a Azure Landing Zone in West US and after much success, deployed a replica in several other GEOs (Canada, EMEA, AP, India) to serve the world. So now they have 5 of them. Each GEO has its own GEO specific set of Web URLs which point to http web apps: contosoUS.application.com contosoEU.application.com contosoAU.application.com …etc. Each Landing Zone uses the same Hub and Spoke architecture (data sovereign) where each of the 5 Hubs includes F5 WAF appliances, which take ingress web access (routed via DNS CNAME to Traffic Manager to Load Balancer in front of the F5 WAFs) where the F5 WAF then performs the firewalling, SSL offload, and forwards to a private peered VNet in that GEO containing either: AKS (Private cluster) ASEV2 (ILB version) SF Cluster FE nodes with private IP addressed front ends. In the AFD docs, I see “Front Door backends refers to the host name or public IP of your application that serves your client requests. Backends shouldn't be confused with your database tier, storage tier, and so on. Backends should be viewed as the public endpoint for your application backend.” So in this case, I don’t think I can propose replacing all 5 WAFs with a single AFD? Is this the case? I cant replace all 5 WAF clusters with one front door handling all 5 custom domains?SolvedSteveDiStefanoNov 03, 2021Microsoft3.7KViews0likes1CommentHow to assign an existing Network Interface to a Private Endpoint

Hello Community, I'm stating this discussion because I likely wanted your input regarding the best way to build a test tenant in Azure. We have a Prod tenant and for some feature testing or some wide tenant configuration changes, we wanted to have a test tenant. This test tenant need to have some users (synched from on-prem by AD Connect) and have the same configuration as our prod tenant. Do you have any experiences, recommendations, processes in this type of configuration? Thanks for sharing your knowledge 🙂SolvedNicolasHonNov 01, 2021Brass Contributor39KViews3likes15CommentsBest way to join VM from one VNet to Azure AD DS custom domain in a different VNet
Greetings. I have a functioning Azure AD DS custom domain that is deployed to a subnet in let's say VNet1. I have a VM that resides in a subnet of, call it VNet2, that I would like to join to the custom domain. What's the simplest, most effective way to achieve this? In looking thru the documentation, I've seen suggestions for Peering the two networks together. This may be fine, but I may prefer to keep the networks separate for security reasons. I have Azure VPN Gateways installed in both VNets so perhaps a site-to-site tunnel could be the best option? Although, if I'm going to do that, then perhaps the Peering option would be the better way to go. Would it be possible to just add a route table in the appropriate subnet of VNet2 and just let routing do the trick? If so, how do I find out the next hop address to add to the route? And would I associate it with the gateway subnet or the default subnet of VNet2? Thanks in advance for any help. I really want to understand what is regarded as a "best practice" in this scenario. Thanks again and cheers, BrianSolvedAzureBrianOct 29, 2021Brass Contributor2.7KViews0likes2Comments
