Consistently Poor Video Quality (Auto) Despite Very Fast Speeds
Hi. I'm seeing about 16 Megabytes / second internet speed when I run a internet speed test. According to the test: Your Internet connection should be able to handle multiple devices streaming HD videos, video conferencing, and gaming at the same time.Despite this, when I upload a 1080p video to Stream and when I hit the play button, it consistently auto plays at the lowest resolution (at most 480p, but typically 240p). I've tried encoding the video file multiple different ways, including at a low bit-rate (1 Mbps) and a very high bit-rate (40 Mbps) but it neverauto plays at 1080p or even 720p. If I click on some point in the play bar while the Quality is set to "Auto", it will adjust based on bandwidth and begin playing the video back at 1080p. And obviously, if I manually change the playback quality to HD, it will play the video in HD. But my viewers don't necessarily know this hack. From their perspective, they hit the Play button and the video just looks crappy and it's a terrible user experience. Why, if our internet speeds are considered very fast, does Stream automatically play an HD video at 480p or 240p? Why does it take me either manually changing the quality or clicking somewhere on the play bar to change the Quality settings and make the video playback at HD?1View0likes0CommentsVideo Quality Default Setting
I'm a video creator at my org. So, I'm generally viewing things through a hybrid, technical+creative lens. As we begin to share internal videos via Stream (SP), I'm regularly noticing that the video quality playback settings are set to "Auto." Often, that leads to the video playing entirely in a low resolution, where it's mostly pixelated; even the thumbnail image previews with the same low resolution. I understand there are various contributing factors here, but I also discovered that users can toggle the video settings to "1080p." Still, it always defaults back to "auto." I'm wondering if there is a way to lock that setting to 1080p for all users within our organization, because it's not realistic to communicate such a setting change to all users.4.2KViews0likes13CommentsMS stream + copilot. Searching the entire video catalogue
Hi, is it possible to use the copilot integration with Microsoft stream to ask queries regarding the entire catalogue (e.g. "In which video was X discussed?"). I can only see info about using copilot to ask questions about a certain video.116Views1like2CommentsSOLUTION: Missing Teams Video Recordings!!
It took some digging, but for those of you who are unable to find your Teams Meeting videos in your Stream (where they have been stored previously), it turns out that MS is phasing in a process of those videos now being stored in either your One Drive for Business or your Sharepoint. This started happening at the beginning of the year. I'm sure your IT department was alerted, but you may not have gotten the memo. If you're looking for your video, check your Teams chat log. There may be a listing titled the same as the name of your meeting. The video is there! So your videos aren't lost... they're just stored in a new place. Here's where I found the answer:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/tmr-meeting-recording-change39KViews3likes5CommentsOption to Select Different Webcam in Microsoft Stream
Hi Microsoft Stream Team, I've been using Microsoft Stream for screen recordings and really appreciate the functionality it offers. However, I've encountered an issue regarding the selection of webcams. Currently, the app defaults to my laptop's built-in webcam, and I don't see an option to choose a different webcam. I have an external webcam set up on my monitor, and I would prefer to use this for my recordings due to its superior quality. Could you please add an option to select a different webcam within the Stream app? This would greatly enhance the user experience for those of us who use external webcams for better video quality. Thank you for considering this feature request! Best regards, James Kuijpers16Views1like0CommentsMicrosoft Stream latest updates have made it useless
This is a complaint about the recent changes to Microsoft Stream especially adding ClipChamp. I can no longer use Microsoft Stream for work and now have to rely on OBS or some other method to get recordings and transcripts. 0) You used to be able to find streams that you attended. Now under the current changes it impossible to find those stream recordings. Across multiple departments and inter-government agencies. The changes have caused a loss of training. 1) The record button for teams is not working properly for guest outside my Microsoft networking (especially when I am the guest and its a training provide by Microsoft). You used to be able to receive transcripts of trainings from Microsoft. These were link to the stream recordings. However, now those same transcripts give a one drive error and are no longer accessible. 2) You used to be able to record a longer than 15 minutes, but then trim it down. It use to allow you to ignore the time limit to split the file into smaller chunks. Then you could delete those splits where the recording had issues. Then you splice them back together as long as the end video remained under 15 minutes. This is currently not possible with the current version of Microsoft Streams. You are not allowed to have true control and editing power of what you record. I am sorry, but until this fixed. I will have to ask my department to consider using different meeting software to hold important meetings and record. P.S. In the future please carefully consider the business needs of your clients before making changes that break the usefulness of the software.36Views0likes0CommentsCaption/transcription generation issues?
The option to generate captions/transcriptions for videos stored in SharePoint/OneDrive has been working fine in our tenant for months, but yesterday users started reporting an error message. When attempting to generate captions, the message indicated that the request could not be completed. By late evening (10 PM EST), the request process was working, but as of 9:30 this morning, no captions have been generated, even for very short videos. There's nothing in the Service Health section of the admin center, so not sure what's going on. EDIT: I just tried requesting captions in another tenant and am getting the same message as yesterday We're having trouble generating a transcript and captions right now. Try again in a bit.15KViews6likes34CommentsMS Stream Analytics Not Working
Hello, I have a playlist of training videos. I enabled seeing the names of viewers on the SharePoint site settings. This worked fine until recently. Now not only do I not see the names, but the actual viewer count in Stream does not change either. I have confirmed with staff and faculty that they have watch the latest video, but the viewer count doesn't change and the viewer names are not added. I didn't change anything with my playlist or videos that I have been using for almost a year. Older videos that show for example 60 viewers, if watched now, no not change the viewer count either. Any ideas why analytics would not be working since about June? Thanks, Debbie452Views1like3CommentsChange in Stream viewer analytics & other delayed behavior
We have been getting reports that the view count is not reflected current state. I've tested this myself and watching a video does not add to the count of viewed. Previously this was counted in real time, but it appears to now be delayed by a day or more. We also have reports from a user that uploaded a new video file which they confirmed was uploaded bc they had a link and can view the video in Stream, but cannot see it listed with the other Stream files under "recent" or "created by me" in the Stream or Office UI. Anyone else getting these reports? I'm not seeing any notifications in the admin center.24Views0likes0CommentsSharePoint or Stream - Option that allows content to be downloaded by all company employees
Good afternoon to everyone. My name is Leonardo Fonseca and I currently work as an administrator in a company located in Brazil. We are trying to find permission to allow the download of all files from my company's employees. Where can we find this option or police? Thanks.Microsoft Stream Admin Center?
Similar to its previous version, are there a new admin center for Stream so that we (global admins) can manage the recordings that was done within our organization? An incident recently occurred where we used one of our VC accounts to record a webinar but then the recording was saved in a OneDrive of one of our employees randomly. As admins previously, we would be able to download the recording directly without having to request access from the user. I hope this wasn't how Microsoft intends to move forward with the new stream application.2KViews0likes4CommentsRecorded Stream (on SharePoint) File Format
When recording a video from the Stream (on SharePoint) we've notice the only file type is available for export, "webm." This is posing serious obstacles for our users as we are on Windows 10 and have VERY locked down machines. No one aside from specific IT specialists in our organization have desktop apps capable of converting or working with the files. Additionally, we strive to not have users go rogue using cloud apps able to convert these files. I really wish the ability to download mp4 was the default. Its pretty sad when the PowerPoint web app can't even read the webm files... I really hope Microsoft provides a better solution or changes the ability from the admin center of what file format is exported by default.2.4KViews1like3CommentsStream (mobile app) permissions do not match desktop settings
I recently shared a video link via email. When accessed from a desktop, the link directed users to the correct video version with the appropriate permission settings. However, when the same user accessed the link from their mobile devices, it directed them to an unedited, editable, and downloadable version despite the set settings. How can we prevent this from happening in the future?10Views0likes0CommentsArrange videos in a Playlist (Stream on Sharepoint)
Hi all please can anyone tell me if the new Stream (on Sharepoint) features the ability to arrange videos in a playlist or at least is it in the roadmap. If not I would like to log a feature request as this was lacking on the Stream (Classic) environment. ThanksSolved14KViews0likes22CommentsMicrosoft Stream w/ VideoJs + API
I have searched a ton into this topic, and so far I can tell is that there is no way to really use a custom video player with Microsoft Stream/ Sharepoint videos unless its for embedding only. The Issue: Trying to listen for video player events via JavaScript in order to track video playing and etc by a user, and hook in executable task when those events are fired. What I've tried so far with no luck: Tried parsing the video url to get the manifest and then show the video via a custom video player using video.js observing and listening on the embedded video iframe's events to capture iframe messages or broadcast channel If anyone has some solid suggestions please advise!29Views0likes0CommentsWays to generate transcripts for videos over 4GB
Hi MS Community; Streams for sharepoint won't generate transcripts for videos over 4 gigs. We're required to have transcripts for all videos for accessibility since we're a school. Is there an alternative to generate transcripts that the team can use? We don't have the time or resources to manually generate a transcript. I used teams to capture the text for one video, but I've got to manually create the markers etc.2.5KViews0likes10CommentsEs parte de un error o mal uso?
