Hello, I hope MS is listening to feedback.
Every employee I have shown the 'new modern library' has not only not liked it, it's caused anger and frustration, with the employees asking me why we have to change and if we can keep the old 'modern look'. MS please consider fixing the issues below or allow a library to keep the 'old modern' look. I already have to defend SharePoint at my company and now I can't even get behind the design decisions.... Employees ask me why and instead of giving a good logical answer, all I can say is that I agree and we are stuck with poor design decisions by MS (eroding all the work I've done to show how SP is good for the company)
The big issues I have heard and I personally also see is the following:
- The new breadcrumb is very bad and a huge step backwards
- Employees loved seeing the full breadcrumb with easy jump to links in modern libraries previously
- Now once you get 3 levels deep, the breadcrumb collapses and only shows 2 levels
- You have to click the little folder button to see the other levels
- I understand mobile is what drives all design these days but this just looks horrible on any PC screen
- Huge step backwards in usability with employees confused on where they are and how to easily navigate a library
- The 'Options' button is laughably designed (the small button next to Details)
- The button is so small, I have a hard time getting employees to find it while they are sharing their screen and I'm telling them where it is
- It's like 30 pixels by 30 pixels... yet holds a lot of great settings and the icon is as vague as possible
- The 'create/upload' button change is just silly, no benefit or advantage, just moving it to confuse and it doesn't even fit well on the right. Not a huge priority since people will get used to wherever it is but it just doesn't make sense
