We're excited to announce the release of page creation with Copilot in SharePoint! Copilot leverages generative AI and Microsoft Graph, using your existing Word, PowerPoint, PDF, and Loop documents as grounding data, making page creation faster and easier. With built-in templates and design ideas, Copilot helps you create visually appealing, engaging pages while consistently meeting your organization's standards.
Since there is already product documentation (Authoring with Copilot in SharePoint) to provide a brief overview of the feature, we'll use this blog post to go deeper and provide some useful tips and tricks to help you to maximize the feature.
To initiate the creation of a new page using Copilot, you may select the +New button located in the command bar of your SharePoint site and choose Page with Copilot. There are two methods for creating pages with Copilot: either by utilizing out-of-the-box designer curated templates displayed at the bottom center, or by entering specific instructions using open prompt box at the top.

Create pages from templates with prompts
Page templates are useful for creating various types of pages, such as newsletters, events, status updates, or processes. They offer a structured layout that can be customized to suit individual requirements. By choosing a template, users can utilize the prompt box to efficiently customize sections and personalize the page.

Tips
- You can add up to 5 files. The first file serves as the primary source of content for your page, while additional files act as supporting documents. For instance, if you attach a product release plan as a supporting document, simply rename a section to "Release Plan," and Copilot will intelligently use that document to populate the section.
- If you've added files, you don't need to manually fill in the subject—Copilot will automatically suggest an appropriate page subject title based on your documents.
- Because Copilot leverages enterprise search, you can also enter your project name or meeting title directly into the subject field without attaching any files. Copilot will then retrieve relevant content from your documents, emails, meetings, and chats to generate the page.
- You can further customize sections by changing their titles or specifying formats. For example, you might rename a section to “Quote from Adam” or instruct Copilot to display content as "Upcoming initiatives in a table" or "Latest news in bullet points."
Create pages from scratch with open prompts
Copilot can generate content and design based on provided input, including goals, context, expectations, and relevant sources. By using open prompts, users can give Copilot detailed instructions to create more personalized pages.
Screen 3 – open prompt box
Tips
- Prompt templates on the bottom right provide examples for instructing Copilot to create a page. You can modify and specify the target audience, industry, or sections you need to create a personalized page.
- If you already have a Word document which is being reviewed and approved and like to create a high-fidelity mapping page. Try the prompt – “Create a news post from the file. Using exactly the same structure and section names, respecting the original content without changing the words.”
- When the page is generated, Copilot will use design ideas for each section and identify keywords from the content to select relevant stock images. More specific section titles like “renewable energy types” may help Copilot choose better images for your page.
- Don't worry about generating the page in one shot. You can still use auto-rewrite with Copilot to rewrite the section in different tones and lengths and incorporate design ideas to suggest visually appealing section designs to iterate on the page after it's created.
