Hi there to all,
I have now setup Outlook to include my VirginMedia emails - VirginMedia now requiring that for access in an App rather than their facility through a browser, a password be obtained from them ( so they know my email password !) and that for POP3 mode, the email is accessed through a NON VirginMedia provided email.
So I have accepted that I will be moving over to Gmail.
With the new account ID's added to Outlook I wanted to set the emails to be presented in timestamp sequence, where I encountered some annoyances - setting the Sent, or Received column to the left of the From or Subject gets the format of that entry set to a basic DD/MM/YYYY format, as does moving the other fields to the right of the Sent or Received field.
OK -
That's Select the column, View Settings, Format Columns, select the field from the list
(that does not have the pointed set to the field I selected in the emails list view.), so a scroll needed.
From the panel for that fields format, select [Format], scroll up to the date & time and select that, Select Best Fit, exit the panel, exit the panel and then I can ..
resize the column to the fixed format to add a space between the end of the time, and the first character of the next field.
Now, I accept that many people will be happy to have the DD/MM/YYYY or the MM/DD/YYYY format - but .. I am a techy', and like to have the dates shown in what appears to be a sortable form - as in YYYY/MM/DD HH:MM, so the entries as I scan them appear to be ascending, or descending sequence.
So
Can we have the facility for setting the timestamp presentation - in a similar manner to that in Excel - as in the user selects the presentation, and placement of the values , and can also set the separator as in "/" or "-" or whatever they want for their country of education form.
And - can we have the format settable as a user defined default for their use of Outlook, so multiple users of a PC get their own version for their initiated version of Outlook, with the option to set other formats depending on the folder they are viewing.
Thanks for your good works with Outlook.
