DaveFarmer interesting, I have meticulously ensured my host providers email settings are perfectly replicated but simply cannot for the life of me get it to authenticate, so much so i even attempted with their provided alternative settings for plain text no encryption or anything and still it will simply not sign in. The result is like signing in with wrong password however i triple checked that and got setup once again in the old outlook first go, which is very frustrating. I suspect the new outlook may be a little stricter on naming or server certificate policy as my zone records after checking them did require some work as a propellor head that setup my account clearly needs schooling however it was only working due to dns servers being a little smarter than your average guys we all picked on in school who might be academically clever yet socially and emotionally retarded and not see the sense in Cnames being confusing for config where a records prevail. (i had leftover CNAME and A Record Conflicts that old outlook ignored or just figured out im guessing) despite spending a lot of time reading and even following RFC for SPF TXT record best practices i was confident my zone records were akin to Mila Kunis in a bikini.... yet Bill gates has no time for women or IMAP or anything really as it still refuses to resolve even after TTL times all confirmed propagated and sound. Whats really bothering me is that even without SSL or TLS and none chosen for encryption and the associated ports updated to my hosts non encrypted ports, still just will not do what its **bleep** told. As a result and to future proof my business from Outlook continuing its efforts to see just how far it can take poor compatability before a new company rises to take its market share from the industries it operates in so poorly, I am now left with a pretty big decision to make.... do i move across to GMAIL and utilise alias based resolution of my email on Googles very rock solid mail servers at the cost of defeatist action or do i bring my server back on premises again and tackle the fun and joy that is Microsoft Exchange coz i think deep down I really just cant wait to introduce yet another donkey OS into my business to murder my time with server roles breaking after updates and data loss becoming a prefered resolution for operational time saving versus riduclous extra costs to get Hyper V replicating properly for redundancy all becuase Bill Gates would rather launch a half assed software platform like outlook which really should be technology parked and labelled as Stress as a Service?
