Access now lets you zoom in and out when you’re working with forms, tables, and queries in Form View or Datasheet View. Zoom in for a closer look at your data or zoom out to see more on screen at once. You can adjust the zoom level using the Zoom button on the ribbon, the zoom slider on the status bar, or keyboard shortcuts. Zoom is also available in Print Preview for reports. Zoom isn’t supported in Report View or Design View. This feature is available in Access for Microsoft 365, version 2605 and later.

Choose a magnification setting from the ribbon

On the Home tab, select Zoom and choose one of the following options: 50%, 75%, 125%, 150%, 175%, 200%, or 500%.

To return the view to 100% zoom, click Zoom 100%. If you prefer to use the keyboard, you can press Ctrl + Alt + 0 (zero).

Use the zoom slider to quickly zoom in or out

On the status bar in the lower right-hand corner of Access, select the zoom slider.

Slide to the percentage zoom setting that you want. Press – or + to zoom in gradual increments.

Use zoom keyboard shortcuts or mousewheel

To zoom in, press Ctrl + Alt + Plus (+).

To zoom out, press Ctrl + Alt + Minus (-).

To return to 100% magnification, press Ctrl + Alt + 0 (zero).

To use the mousewheel and scroll to zoom in or out, press Ctrl + mousewheel.

Change your default zoom percentage

Access doesn't save zoom settings on closing and reopening a form. Instead, it opens your form using the default zoom setting. To set your zoom default percentage, choose File > Options > Current Database > Application Options and choose the Default Zoom setting.

Note   Content inside of ActiveX controls, such as the text in a TreeView control, doesn't resize when zoomed. Zooming in Access only affects Access-native controls. If a form uses ActiveX controls, consider replacing them with native Access controls so they scale with the rest of the form.

After this feature was introduced, I started experiencing an issue during data entry in forms.

On a Turkish keyboard, I need to use the "Ctrl + Alt + -" key combination to enter the "|" character. When I use this combination, the form zooms out and data entry becomes unusable.

This is not a problem in my user scenario. The actual problem is that the same issue also occurs when scanning with a barcode scanner.

For example, when I try to enter a barcode value such as "21456|KZMN" into a textbox using a barcode scanner, the same problem occurs again.

I can solve the issue by converting the application to an .accde file and disabling this feature.

A small fix regarding this issue would be appreciated.

    • The Access team is aware of the problem and will fix it soon.

Meanwhile they recommend to use workarounds like Alt + 0124 on the numerical keyboard to enter the pipe character, or paste it from anywhere, e.g. the Windows character map. Most scanners know an Alt mode where you could again use Alt + 0124.

I wish this could be applied to the form design as well.

Design view will also get the zoom feature in the next few months

This is great news, we know that some of our customers will be very happy about this feature!

One question: Are there any backwards-compatibility issues with this new feature that we Access developers should be aware of? For example, adding the Regex class to VBA broke binary compatibility with the LTSC versions. Should we prepare for something similar, or has this issue been considered during development?

As Maria stated, zooming is only available in M365 Access build 2605 or later. We'll be adding the following to VBA and I'll update the documentation shortly (sometime in June 2026)

      Forms and reports

      • Me.Zoom = zoomPercentage
zoomPercentage: An integer between 50 and 500.
      • Forms("Form Name").Zoom = 500 (forms only)
      • Reports("Report Name").Zoom = 500 (reports only)

For all object types (tables, queries, forms, reports)

Application.Zoom = zoomPercent (this will zoom the current active table or query window)

    • HeinziAT Zooming is only available in Microsoft 365.  The Regex class was a VBA update that was available to multiple versions.  Backward compatibility should not be an issue at least at this time.  If/when programmatic options get added for this feature, I am confident that Microsoft will take backward compatibility into account.
