George_Hepworth & Team, what a superb effort. I had heard about it through the UK AUG. Long overdue to have something fresh to demonstrate MS Access development in 2023!
I have been programming MS Access professionally, on and off, since Access 2.0 On Windows 3.11/95/98 !!!!
But as a result I am probably still using techniques and habits I got into back then, especially Access 97, which I almost lived in at one point, which I ought to be shaking off - so hopefully Northwind 2 will really help me see what I need to do differently.
Had an initial play with it today - A STERLING EFFORT - VERY WELL DONE.
It never fails to amaze me, in the days of "Everything should be online" mantra, that here we are 30 years on, still seeing MS Access have a place, on the desktop, in offices, running local code. Its perfect for some business use cases. I have two local businesses who I am developing for right now here in the UK, for example.
There are many, many things that desperately need updating in MS Access - not least the aging VBA Editor. Whilst it feels like "my best old pair of trousers" - having hardly changed in 20 years, it really is missing some desperately needed modern Dev Tool features. I am guessing there is no hope of this, from MS...? I guess we should be grateful there are at least bug fix releases still being done.
Do you want bug reports on NW2 here on this thread? Or is there a better place?
All the best from the South West of the UK.
