Hi, I enrolled my Windows 10 PC in the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program using my Microsoft account so I could continue receiving security updates after Windows 10 reached end of support. The update installed successfully, but now I can't remove my Microsoft account from Windows. Here's my situation: I sign in with a local Administrator account, not a Microsoft account. netplwiz confirms my account is local. However, Settings → Accounts → Your info shows my Microsoft email address. Under Settings → Accounts → Email & accounts, my Microsoft account appears under Accounts used by other apps with "All apps can sign me in." There is no Remove, Disconnect, or Sign out option. I've already tried: Removing all Microsoft-related entries from Credential Manager. Restarting the PC. Removing the device from my Microsoft account online. None of these removed the account from Windows. Is this expected behavior after enrolling in Windows 10 ESU? Is there any supported way to disconnect the Microsoft account? Thanks in advance.29Views0likes2CommentsYour device is missing important security and quality fixes.
Does anyone know how to fix Windows update saying “you’re not up-to-date” “your device is missing important security and quality fixes” i’ve reinstalled windows several times using a USB media and also the upgrade now feature neither of them have worked for me. I’ve tried clearing the update cache to clear out any corrupt files also didn’t work, I really don’t understand what could be causing this because the drives have been completely wiped and it’s a fresh install of windows, I even tried re-downloading it onto the USB just in case the download was messed up somehow, It also says my pc is enrolled in ESU so I should be getting the newest updates, at this point I think it might be something on Microsoft end31Views0likes1CommentWindows 10 activation lost after hardware change – Troubleshooter didn’t detect my linked device
Hello, I am having an issue with Windows 10 activation after replacing hardware in my PC. Before the hardware change, my Windows 10 installation was properly activated, and Windows showed that the digital license was linked to my Microsoft account. The PC was signed in with that Microsoft account, and the device was also visible on my Microsoft account page. After the hardware replacement, Windows automatically deactivated because it detected a hardware change. I tried the Activation Troubleshooter and selected the option “I changed hardware on this device recently”, but the original device was not offered in the list, even though it had been linked to my Microsoft account before the change. I also tried entering my original Windows 7 product key (the one on the sticker attached to the PC), which was used to activate Windows 7 before I upgraded to Windows 10 for free. However, Windows rejected the key with error code 0x803FA067. This is not an OEM license, so as far as I understand it should be transferable after a hardware change. Has anyone experienced this before? What should I do next to restore activation? Is there a way to manually re-link the digital license to this hardware? Thank you.44Views0likes3CommentsHigh CPU usage by Antimalware Service Executable (Windows Defender) on every login
Hello, I am experiencing a persistent issue with Windows Defender. The background process Antimalware Service Executable (MsMpEng.exe) consumes extremely high CPU usage every time I log in, making the system nearly unusable. The only temporary workaround I have found is disabling real-time protection, which immediately stops the high CPU usage. However, I do not want to permanently disable protection for security reasons. Here is what I have already tried and what did not help: Reducing Windows Defender CPU usage from 20 percent to 5 percent did not help, the process still uses most of the CPU. Excluding my drives from scanning did not help, I excluded both drives I use but Defender still appears to be scanning something in the background. Removing Windows Defender entirely seems like the only effective solution, but I understand this is not recommended since it is a built-in system component and could cause system issues. For several months now, my routine has been logging in and manually turning off real-time protection just to be able to use my system, which is not a sustainable or secure solution. Is there any way to resolve this issue while keeping Windows Defender enabled? Any guidance or recommended troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.13KViews1like4CommentsKOBO Arc no longer connects to Win 10
Hoping someone can help with this. Been using this Kobo arc for at least 10 years on this computer with no problems. As of tonight, it no longer connects (last time I connected was only a week ago or so). I see the Arc in the device manager but with a question mark. Information, shows no driver loaded. When I try to update the driver using the update driver dialog, I get message that the MTP USB Device system file was not found. I locate wpdmtp.inf in the Windows/INF folder, but right click/install yields a 'file not found' error. Kobo Arc connects to WIn 11 computer no problem using the same cable. Tried various fixes found on internet, but haven't found anything that works. Nothing else, including other USB periperals, are acting weird or unusual. Jestem posiadaczem karty sieciowej TP-Link Archer T4U Plus V1.0. pobrałem do niej dedykowane sterowniki. I have an Acer Aspire 3 A315-21-4808 laptop with Windows 10 (64-bit) version 22H2 that gave up the ghost about 1½ weeks ago. As it is, what I consider, my backup laptop I decided to resuscitate it back to life. But I wasn't going to break the bank on it. I ordered a new battery and a new 1 Tb HDD. So, before people suggest that I could have upgraded to a SSD drive I didn't want a complicated laptop resuscitation, that's why I went the HDD route. Now to get to the problem. When I tried to install Windows 10 on the UEFI firmware I get a "No bootable device found." But when I changed the firmware to "Legacy" I had no problems installing Windows 10. Can someone explain to me what is going on and if it's possible to get my laptop back to UEFI?Solved136Views0likes5CommentsTrouble trying to fix 0x800704cf on Windows 10, possible Windows 10 update reversion required?
I had been having this issue with trying to access my MS store and Minecraft Launcher, but no matter what it says I am offline not. I can browse around the MS store, and I know my accounts aren't blocked, but, whenever I got sign in or even create an account, it gives that error and denies me. I tried a lot of commands to fix this issue such as: netsh int ip resetnetsh int ip reset netsh winhttp reset proxynetsh winhttp reset proxy ipconfig /flushdnsipconfig /flushdns netsh winsock resetnetsh winsock resenetsh int ip resetnetsh int ip resetnetsh winhttp reset proxynetsh winhttp reset proxyipconfig /flushdnsipconfig /flushdnsnetsh winsock resetnetsh winsock reset But nothing has worked, I tried lots more commands but it will still give the error, Next I tried powershell commands to clear the ms store, wipe credentials, ip resets, and flushing the dns or fixing files that were corrupted, but still nothing. I tried deleting many files tied to what could cause it but still no luck. I am aware this was I believe an issue for Windows 11 users, but, it has also been an issue seemingly with the Windows 10-Extended updates as well, not sure when this occurred as I hadn't touched these apps for a long time, but I am confident that it is the "March 10, 2026—KB5078885 (OS Builds 19045.7058 and 19044.7058)" and the security updates from 3/10 and another from 3/11. I tried a lot of methods to fix the problem but I think I had reached a dead end as it seems very deep rooted and I think I may have to revert whatever update caused the issue. I also want to know if any Windows 10 users that are enrolled in the extension updates had these issues and what fixed it if they were able to, as I had not been able to fix it myself and may have to revert. Let me know if reverting affects any of the extended updates also.286Views0likes3CommentsWhen idling, laptop runs background programs with 'Very high' power usage, leading to loud fans
I have an Acer Aspire 7 A717-72G-700J laptop which is now a couple of years old and which runs Windows 10. Oftentimes, when I leave it idle for a few minutes, the fans start whirring, and when I check Task Manager I find that one program or another is running in the background, leading to 'Very high' power usage, which is presumably what's causing the fans to run. Some culprits include: MsMpEng.exe / Antimalware Service Executable: this is probably the one that causes this most frequently. I presume Windows Defender is running some sort of background scan, but when I open up Defender it doesn't say anything about it currently running a scan, and usually the last scan recorded was hours ago, or even the previous day. Google Chrome: I sometimes have quite a few tabs open, but I'm not actually doing anything on them, and they shouldn't be running anything in the background (it's often just reddit, Wikipedia, or other websites that are 99% text), yet, while idling, Chrome will leap to 'Very high' power usage. AggregatorHost.exe msedgewebview2.exe: I don't even use Edge! I think wsappx and some others may have caused problems as well. To be honest, I've kind of lost track at this point, since it happens so regularly. If anyone knows how to fix this I'd really appreciate. I've Googled this previously and it seems like lots of others have this problem too, especially with the Antimalware Service Executable one, but fiddling with Defender settings hasn't fixed things, and because I'm having it with loads of different programs I'm beginning to think it might be a broader problem.113Views0likes3CommentsBitlocker 851 the system cannot find the path specified
Hi everyone, We are trying to migrate computers from domain joined to INTUNE. Every time we disjoin a computer the BitLocker has a problem suspending or even disabling and re-enabling. What we found is an error 851 the system cannot find the file specified. When we rejoin to The domain and enable BitLocker the error does not happen and BitLocker is enabled successfully. We also use a pin with the boot up. I tried searching the issue and attempted the repairs suggested with no luck. Any ideas would be appreciated. Rahamim1.2KViews0likes3Comments
