Hello, I cannot enrol in Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU). I have Windows 10 version 22H2 installed, including KB5063709. OneDrive is installed. I have tried several times via: Open Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update. I can get to the screen that says "Enrol in Extended Security Updates to stay protected", but after I press 'next', I get a blank window with a wheel of death. After about a minute the window dies. Via a chat with one of the Microsoft support channels the problem may be relates to Windows Backup not working. I have tried several community articles to make this work, but cannot get it to work. I've also been told I need to go to Settings > Accounts > Windows Backup Make to make sure “Remember my apps” and “Remember my preferences” are turned on. but since I can't start Windows Backup, I cannot do this. Obviously with the deadline for registering for extended security deadlines approaching fast I am rather concerned... Please help.57Views0likes1CommentWindows Scheduled Task does not run
I created a task under folder \DandyLabs called "DandyLabsBlogEntryRetriever". This task runs a batch file "dandylabsblogentryretriever.bat": ECHO Running DandyLabsBlogEntryRetriever.. CD C:\path\to\batch "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-14.0.1\bin\java" -cp ".;../jar/commons-io-2.11.0.jar;../jar/mysql-connector-java-8.0.19.jar" com.dandylabs.DandyLabsBlogEntryRetriever && ( (call) ) || ( (PAUSE) ) I then created a scheduled task to automatically run this .bat file at a given time, to run whether I am logged in or not, and to make up to 3 attempts to run, timing out after 30 minutes. The .bat script runs just fine if run manually; the scheduled task will run if you click "Run" and will run just fine, but when it is scheduled to run, nothing happens. The history just says "Task registered" and goes no further; no errors nor warnings are given. I don't know what to do at this point. I am using Windows 10 if that helps. Does anyone have any idea what I may have done wrong to cause this to happen? Please advise, thanks424Views0likes1CommentWindows 10: Empty blue screen upon logging in
Hello, I don't know why, but whenever my laptop with Windows 10 reboots, right after signing in, the very first thing that shows up every time, before even the desktop has the chance to show up or any program can load, is an empty blue screen. It's not the BSOD, but a screen with a blue background similar to the one that appears sometimes after Windows Update installs some updates and Windows asks you to set something up, except that this one doesn't have any text image. Two buttons are available on the bottom: "Repeat" and "Cancel". If I hit "Repeat", it seems the system tries to do something – the rotating loading circles and the words "One moment..." appear very briefly in the center of the screen, but nothing happens and the screen goes blue again with no text. I tried to do this multiple time, but nothing different happens. On the bottom of the screen there are also icons to access accessibility options ("Ease of Access") and audio volume. If you hit "Cancel", the screen disappears, I'm taken to the desktop screen, and the startup process continues normally, with programs opening, etc. Here's how this annoying screen looks: It seems harmless enough, seeing as the solution is simply to hit "Cancel" every time, but the problem is that this laptop is being used as a file server and should be as autonomous as possible, and whenever it starts up, it should be able to complete the whole sign in process unattended to be able to load programs and everything, so I would like to check if anyone has any idea what this screen is and how to get rid of it. I tried restoring Windows to a previous state (from up to 1 month ago) and it didn't solve the problem. Searching the web for similar cases also haven't gotten me anywhere, unfortunately, so any help is appreciated. Thanks, Fabio2.4KViews0likes1CommentWindows 10 installation failed (in-place Upgrade/Repair)
Windows 10 Pro ver 22H2, MSI M=motherboard, i9, 128 GB RAM, NVMe boot disk. ** The issue is a Win10-to-Win10 in-place repair/upgrade that fails after what looks like a successful and lengthy process. Background: This is a new hardware system that started from an in-place upgrade from Win7 to Win10. The newly upgraded Win10 was a bit quirky, but worked out most of the bugs - mostly drivers, of course. But still an odd hiccup, sooo, decided to do an in-place Win 10 Upgrade/Repair, but it fails. Twice tried the in-place Upgrade with two different ISO's, one from the Media Creation Tool based on my system, and another multi-version ISO from an MS web page. What is peculiar is that the install looks like it goes perfectly well - goes thru a 20+ minute process, first in Windows, then a blue DOS-ish screen, then back to Windows. Then all of a sudden a little dialog that simply says "Windows 10 installation failed". Dont bother suggesting a clean install. That is a sick and insane idea that people throw out there like they've said something smart. Not smart. And that is because not only does all the software have to be - reinstalled, but what about all the setups and tweaks one does as they curate and caress their software. Many such tweaks on a mature system might be years old, so NO, not going thru have to figure all that out. Have tried all the tries - SFC, DISM (see note below), chkdsk, driver updates/uninstall-reinstall, virus scan, hardware stress tests. Another perhaps related peculiarity is that DISM /RestoreHealth fails with the "source files could not be found" error. Also, DISM fails after it works for a really long time, usually on 62.3%, but then comes back with the "source" error.110Views0likes2CommentsHow to analyze minidump file?

Although there is no internet connection speed issue on other mobile devices and computers connected to the same modem, the internet download speed is 2 Mbps and the upload speed is 9 Mbps on my computer. Both Windows 10 Pro and MacOS are installed on the same computer (i.e Macbook Pro). When I switch to MacOS, the internet download speed is 75Mbps as it should be. I've tried the most common solutions suggested on Microsoft's site and other sites on the subject. None of them worked out. I reinstalled Windows 10 by protecting the files and programs on my computer, but there was no solution. I also shut down all non-Windows applications and services that started automatically when the computer was booted, again, there was no solution. I tried 7-8 more actions without any solution. My computer did not have such a problem 2 weeks ago. It started suddenly. Windows 10 Pro was upgraded recently to version 1909. Even though, I'm not sure I suspect this might be the problem. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Update after 5 years (22 August 2024): I could not find a solution to this problem. I experienced this problem twice. Each time, I had to completely format the Windows installation on Boot Camp. Then, reset macOS. After that reinstalled Windows on Macbook Pro via Boot Camp from scratch. That solved my issue. I suspect the issue might be due to some updates that came via Boot Camp. Also, don't install Wifi related updates provided as optional updates on Windows if you don't experience any issue at that moment. Such updates may be the reason as well.239KViews1like15Comments
