Caption/transcription generation issues?
The option to generate captions/transcriptions for videos stored in SharePoint/OneDrive has been working fine in our tenant for months, but yesterday users started reporting an error message. When attempting to generate captions, the message indicated that the request could not be completed. By late evening (10 PM EST), the request process was working, but as of 9:30 this morning, no captions have been generated, even for very short videos. There's nothing in the Service Health section of the admin center, so not sure what's going on. EDIT: I just tried requesting captions in another tenant and am getting the same message as yesterday We're having trouble generating a transcript and captions right now. Try again in a bit.
Is there an alternate way to download transcriptions?
I have a user that created a transcription during a 4 hour long Team meeting but now receives an error when trying to download it. 1. In Microsoft Teams, clicked Calendar 2. Clicked on the meeting invite 3. Clicked Transcript 4. Clicked Download > Download as .docx (also tried .vtt) 5. Get this error: This issue occurs both for her and the meeting owner. It also occurs whether they use the desktop app or the web version of Teams. This has been occurring for several days for this particular meeting. I have read that transcripts are stored in the user's Exchange Online account; is it possible to retrieve it from there? Or from Teams Admin, or using Powershell, ShareGate, or by any other method?Saving to OneDrive and Downloading Transcripts
In MC222640 it states the roll out of the save to OneDrive and SharePoint feature switch happens on Jan. 11th 2021 unless action is taken otherwise. In MC220987 it states the new Download Transcription feature in the new Meeting center will not roll out until mid-February. My question is if we switch to saving to ODSP now is there a way to download transcripts from those recordings, or that only available through Stream until the new Transcription features roll out? It would seem odd to lose a feature for a month unless I explicitly act to not roll out a new feature.
