Objects in a Retention Policy populated by Adaptive Scopes
I need a way to get all users in a retention policy that is populated by an adaptive scope. I can get all the members of the scope, and I can show that the policy uses that adaptive scope. But I know my audience. They will want to see that the users are actually in the policy. They will probably even want to see that it matches the users in the adaptive scope. In the GUI, I can click on an adaptive retention policy and click on "policy details". This will show all the users that the policy applies to and the date/time they were added, if they were removed from the policy, etc. And I can even export that. How can I get this same information via PowerShell? It's going to be important because, as you can see, there's a big difference in the date/time added. they were all in the adaptive scope BEFORE this policy was created, but it still took nearly 24 hours for all users to be added. Which is fine, and typical, but if a user gets added to the adaptive scope and does not have the policy applied to them within 24 hours, we need to know this. The goal is as much automation as possible, with checks and balances in place. Checks and balances require gathering information. That's going to require getting this information via PowerShell.Get-AdaptiveScopeMembers doesn't show the SiteURL for OneDrive
I am working through reporting for Adaptive Scopes and Adaptive Retention policies. I'm so close. But I discovered a problem with my script in that when people return to the company after their account has been deleted, they get a new OneDrive URL. This is expected. While they can have the same email address as an inactive mailbox, they cannot have the same OneDrive URL as an inactive URL. Since we keep all data for a minimum of 7 years, it is possible for a UPN to be the "owner" of 2 or more OneDrive URLs (one active and the others are from previous accounts). I have no easy way of seeing which OneDrive URL is active short of looking for digits at the end of the URL and taking the highest digit. But, what I want to know, is why isn't it here? Why doesn't "Get-AdaptiveScopeMember" return the SiteURL for the user? I thought maybe it was because my test user didn't have a OneDrive site when the account was added to the scope, so I added my actual user account to the scope and it shows the same thing. Is SiteURL only for SharePoint sites and not OneDrive sites? This makes no sense. Does it just take more time to show up? what's the time frame on that?

Retention Compliance Policy exemption group honoring
Hello, My company is starting down a path to enact a Data Lifecycle Management policy, starting with our EOL email. The desired state outcome is a policy that deletes all email older than 7 years, applied to all mailboxes, with certain exemptions to named users/individuals (execs, etc.). I created a mail-enabled security group for the named exempt individuals, sync'ed into EntraID. I was able to use powershell to create a retention compliance policy (in a disabled state for now) + corresponding retention compliance rule that is targeted to EOL, but I can't see to get the configuration to honor the exemption group I've specified. I'm typically PIM'ed up to Compliance Administrator to do these manipulations, though I've also tried with Global Admin to no avail. Whether via the powershell based attempts or via the Purview GUI, the exempt group listing just doesn't seem to take/appear after I've submitted the change to enact on it. Is there anything special needed to get the Purview system to honor a group specified for named users/mailboxes for exemption? I understand that it can take up to 7 days for a change to take hold, but I was under the impression that changes that are submitted should at least be visible via the admin interface of choice (powershell, Purview web GUI) once submitted. ThanksExcluding SharePoint Online sites from Retention Policy, for removal
I understand that when I have the Purview Retention Policy set to Never Delete, that I can't fully delete any SharePoint Online sites. If I add the sites I want to remove to the Exclude list of the Policy, how long does it normally take for that change to propagate before I have permissions to be able to delete those excluded sites?
Auto retention label policy does not work in SharePoint Online
I have created an auto retention label policy and ran and tested it in simulation mode two weeks back, but when I run the same policy with the same query in simulation mode, it does not give any matching result; always it comes with 0 matches found. However, when we test the same query in SharePoint Online search, it gives a result. The policy is completing on time; sometimes it takes hours to days to complete, but sometimes it completes on time as expected. What could be the reason? Are you also facing similar issues? Thanks!
Purview Retain and Delete Policy
Hi Could anyone help me with a question please?. I have a Retain and Delete after 7 years policy. Will email in the Deleted Items and Sent Items folders be retained? If this is true is there a way to exclude the Deleted Items and Sent Items folders? We have a MRM policy in place which purges email from the Deleted Items folder but my assumption is that Purview policies take precedence over MRM policies. Thanks, ChrisIssue with deleting an M365 group - Can't remove the excluded group from retention policy
We have a retention policy in place for all groups within the org. To my understanding should a request come in from a user asking to delete a Teams SharePoint site, we have to add the group attached to this SharePoint site to the excluded list within our Group retention policy. This then removes the retention from the SP site so we can then delete the site which also deletes the group. When I then try to remove the group from the excluded list in the retention policy it errors as the group no longer exists within the tenant. Due to this, the policy then ends up in an 'error' status. How do I get the policy to a status of success? After running tests, the only way I have been able to remove the group from the excluded list in the retention policy is to restore the group but this of course restores SharePoint site which is back to square one. Am I missing a trick here? How can this be by design if not? Thanks
