Office 2019 for Mac – Perpetual License No Longer Activates
Hello, I purchased a genuine Microsoft Office Home & Business 2019 for Mac perpetual license in 2024. The product was successfully activated and is still registered to my Microsoft account. Until recently, everything worked perfectly. However, Word (version 16.113.2) now refuses to activate and displays a message stating that my Office 2019 license is no longer supported. I understand that Microsoft has ended support for Office 2019, but I purchased a perpetual license, not a subscription, and I would like to continue using the software I paid for. I have already contacted Microsoft Support, and they referred me to this community. Could someone from Microsoft please advise how I can restore my existing license? If this is no longer technically possible, I would appreciate an alternative solution, such as a complimentary upgrade to a compatible Office version. I would prefer not to purchase another license simply because my previously working software can no longer be activated. Thank you for your assistance.
Planning a Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 Migration? What Should You Consider?
Hi everyone, Has anyone recently migrated from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365? I’m interested in knowing what challenges you faced during the migration, especially around mailbox data, calendars, contacts, user mapping, or the final cutover process. For those planning the migration, what are the key things you recommend preparing before getting started? Would like to hear your experiences and suggestions.
Free Mac app: fixes PowerPoint images that look sharp on Mac but pixelated on Windows
If you paste figures or tables from PDFs into PowerPoint for Mac, they may look pixelated when the deck is shown on a Windows PC (conference rooms, classrooms). This has been reported for years without a fix. Cause: PowerPoint for Mac stores the pasted PDF plus a small low-res backup image. Windows can't read the PDF, so it shows the backup. I made a small, free, open-source menu bar app that uses the sharp PDF already in the file to create a Windows-safe copy (name_windows.pptx). Your original is never changed. Drop files on the icon, or let it watch a folder so it happens automatically. https://github.com/Filhgd/pptx-mactowindows-fix Signed and notarized, macOS 13+. Feedback welcome, especially files where it doesn't work.Need to Restore PST Files to Office 365 Mailboxes - What's the Best Approach
Hey everyone, I have a task coming up where I need to restore several PST files back into Office 365 mailboxes. Haven't done this before at this scale and honestly not sure where to begin. I've looked at Microsoft's native import service through Purview but I have a few concerns: Some of the PST files are quite large — not sure how well it handles that I need to restore only specific folders for some users, not the entire PST I'm worried about data consistency after the restore Would prefer something that doesn't require too many admin roles or complex setup For those who have done PST to Office 365 restores — what approach worked best for you? Any tools, tips, or things to watch out for that you wish you knew before starting?
Error Message 0x0 when trying to re-install Office 2019 on Mac Tahoe
Hello, I have a genuine Office Home & Student 2019 for Mac license, still listed in my Microsoft account under Services & Subscriptions and was added on March 30, 2022. Microsoft Support confirmed that my Office Home & Student 2019 license is genuine, valid, and should still be activatable. However, activation fails with error 0x0 immediately after entering my email. And the support argues that they ended their support years ago, that I should rather buy Office 2024. What makes me think this is not a local Mac issue is that Office stopped activating on my previous Mac (Big Sur) a few months ago, before I replaced it. I recently bought a new Mac and the exact same problem persists. My configuration: - MacBook Air M4 - macOS Tahoe - Office 16.78 (installed using the Microsoft-provided installer) - Office Home & Student 2019 perpetual license What I have already tried: - Reinstalling Office completely - Installing version 16.78 specifically recommended by Microsoft's support - Running the official Microsoft License Removal Tool - Removing Office containers and activation data - Restarting the Mac - Signing in with the Microsoft account that owns the license At this point, I'm wondering whether this may be related to Microsoft's activation services for older perpetual Office 2019 licenses rather than a problem on the Mac itself. Has anyone else seen error 0x0 during activation of Office 2019 for Mac recently? Any clues? I wonder if there’s a chance to make pressure also, as Microsoft sells license that are supposed to be perpetual… Thank you
Edit/Mass Edit Powerpoint linked file addresses
As the title suggests I'm looking for a way to manually edit or ideally mass edit the address to linked files in powerpoint. For context I play several games where I need to keep track of what builds I have on which character, and sometimes their in-game inventory. Unfortunately the games don't really have the greatest inventory management for the in-game item side of things. In addition the only way sometimes to remember a character's build is to log onto that character and pull up their build page. With enough characters it can be pain remember what I have where even though I enjoy the games themselves. To get around some of the flaws I have powerpoints I use to keep track of certain things like inventory and build. One ppt may have photos of all the current builds for each character, another may have photos of their inventory and so forth. Certainly not ideal but once the initial setup was done, it's been fairly easy to maintain and I only have to update an odd photo here or there if something changes. Which brings me to my potential issue here. I've been keeping the ppts on a thumb drive along with the photos so I can have everything in one place. Recently the drive decided it was done and checked into that silicone repository in the sky and no longer works. Fortunately however I was able to move everything over to a newer drive before the old one finally checked out. While I was able to save my data, I also introduced 2 side effects I wasn't thinking of at the time in my haste to avoid losing everything. When moving everything over I moved things over in batches to avoid taxing the failing drive too hard and placed each batch in its own folder to avoid copying the same thing more than once. So think something like Folder 1, Folder 2, Folder 3, and so on. To conserve on file size of the ppt itself I always chose the option of "Link to File" when inserting the photos to the slides instead of the basic "Insert" or "Insert and Link" options. This means 2 things, the drive location is no longer correct, and the folder location is no longer correct in the links. While I could in theory just change the drive letter and make the folder structure the same again, moving it in batches actually let me organize the raw photos better, but means I now need to correct the addresses for the ppts themselves since the old links no longer work. In the program I know we can go to Info, then press the Edit Links To Files button, and try to change stuff there. The problem is that I can only change one thing at the time there. On top of that if I press the Change Source button, it wants me to find the photo individually vs just chanting the text address of the photo. These wouldn't be issues if it was just a few photos we're talking about as I could just go in, relink by hunting each one and roll. However there are around 250 photos that I would have to do this for, and it would be very tedious. Plus the fact the previews don't work anymore either. (yes i'm one of those kinds of gamers) So what I'm hoping you folks can help me with is a way to edit the text addresses manually for the links. Ideally in mass groups, but I can do it one at the time if I have to. For example let's say I have photo one and it's address looks like "D:\Game1\Character Group1\CharacterA\Build1\Photo1" on the old drive. What I want is a way to change it to say "E:\Game1\Batch1\Character Group1\CharacterA\Build1\Photo1" type of thing. Ideally I'm hoping for a way to change those addresses in mass. If I have to text edit them all one by one, that's still alot faster than having to hunt and relink each photo individually. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Office 2019 Home & Business for Mac – activation after erased old Mac
Hello, I own a perpetual Office 2019 Home & Business for Mac license, linked to my Microsoft account on 6 February 2022. The old MacBook where Office was activated was completely erased before being sold. I now need to activate Office on a new MacBook, but Word and Excel say that no license was found. Microsoft support told me that the license is limited to one device and cannot be reset. I understand the one-device limitation and confirm that Office is no longer installed or used on the old Mac. Could someone confirm whether a retail Office 2019 Home & Business for Mac license can be transferred to a replacement Mac after the old Mac has been erased? If yes, what is the correct activation or deactivation procedure when the original Mac is no longer available? The product is visible under Services & subscriptions in my Microsoft account. Thank you.Moving Office 365 Mailboxes to IMAP Servers - What’s the Best Approach
I’ve recently been looking into scenarios where organizations need to move mailboxes from Microsoft 365 to IMAP based email servers, and I noticed this is still a common requirement in many migrations. In most cases, the challenge is not just moving emails, but making sure everything like folder structure, old emails, and user data stays intact without creating too much disruption for users. From what I’ve seen, doing this manually can get very complex, especially when there are multiple mailboxes or large data volumes involved. That’s where migration tools usually come into the picture. Most tools simplify things by handling: 1. Secure connection to Microsoft 365 accounts 2. Bulk mailbox migration 3. Preserving folder hierarchy 4. Reducing downtime during the move 5. Avoiding duplicate data issues One thing I’ve noticed is that running a small pilot migration first always helps. It gives a clear idea of how the actual migration will behave before moving all users. Has anyone here worked on Office 365 to IMAP migration at scale? Would be good to know what approaches or tools worked best in your case and what challenges you faced during the process.
Outlook Cached Mode Repeatedly Re-syncs Mailbox After Restart (Starts Again Around 3.99 GB)
Hi everyone, I’m experiencing a strange Outlook Cached Exchange Mode issue with a Microsoft 365 mailbox after a recent Windows rebuild and wanted to see if anyone has seen similar behavior. Environment: Microsoft 365 mailbox (Exchange Online) Outlook for Microsoft 365 Version 2605 Build 16.0.20026.20076 64-bit Windows 11 25H2 Fresh OS rebuild performed twice New Outlook profile created Office completely reinstalled OST recreated multiple times Issue: When Cached Exchange Mode is enabled, Outlook starts downloading/synchronizing mail normally, and the OST file continues to grow correctly. However, after every reboot or Outlook restart, Outlook again shows “Downloading…” starting from around 3.99 GB. Important observations: Online Mode works perfectly OUTLOOK.EXE closes properly after exit OST file is NOT deleted and continues growing Sync slider changes (1 month, 1 year, all mail) make no difference Disabling Outlook indexing did not help New Outlook profile did not help Reinstalling Office did not help Problem only started after OS rebuild Before rebuild, same mailbox worked normally in Cached Mode No pending office or windows update. It does not appear to actually re-download the mailbox from scratch because the OST size keeps increasing, but Outlook repeatedly processes/downloads from around the same 3.99 GB point after restart. Has anyone seen: Cached Mode replaying synchronization repeatedly after restart? Similar behavior on recent Current Channel builds? Security/EDR products interfering with OST synchronization state? Any known regressions with Outlook Version 2605 Build 16.0.20026.20076? Any suggestions or similar experiences would be appreciated.
Publish an Excel Add-in by just submitting the add-in manifest to Microsoft Marketplace
I am working on Excel Add-in built using the react template. We are planning to host the add-in code on our domain and update the manifest to point to the URL for our domain. Can I just submit the add-in manifest to Microsoft to publish it in Microsoft Marketplace?
