Office 2019 Home & Business for Mac – activation after erased old Mac

Hello,

I own a perpetual Office 2019 Home & Business for Mac license, linked to my Microsoft account on 6 February 2022.

The old MacBook where Office was activated was completely erased before being sold. I now need to activate Office on a new MacBook, but Word and Excel say that no license was found. Microsoft support told me that the license is limited to one device and cannot be reset.

I understand the one-device limitation and confirm that Office is no longer installed or used on the old Mac.

Could someone confirm whether a retail Office 2019 Home & Business for Mac license can be transferred to a replacement Mac after the old Mac has been erased? If yes, what is the correct activation or deactivation procedure when the original Mac is no longer available?

The product is visible under Services & subscriptions in my Microsoft account.

Thank you.

  • Yes, your Office 2019 Home & Business for Mac perpetual license can be transferred to a replacement Mac, provided you uninstall/remove it from the old device. Activation on the new Mac must be done by signing into your Microsoft account and, if necessary, completing phone activation,support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-activation-licensing/transfer-your-office-license-to-another-device-or-another-person

      Thank you very much.

The problem is that my old MacBook was completely erased before being sold, so I cannot uninstall Office from it anymore.

Could you please explain how I can complete the phone activation on macOS, or how I should contact Microsoft Activation Support?

      Thank you.
