I have Windows 11. Today I began having an issue wherein the Read Aloud feature built into Edge doesn't work. I was initially trying to use a similar function on Internet Archive, and noticed that while all the Microsoft voices seemed to be available in the onsite dropdown, the only voices that made any sound were David, Mark, and Zira---none of the "Online (Natural)" voices. I tried to use Read Aloud as a workaround, and found all the buttons greyed out completely. Mind you, everything worked fine yesterday, and I made no changes to my computer in the intervening time. I've opened up two support tickets, but neither live chat agent was able to resolve the issue. Here are the things I've tried with their help: trying the feature on different websites updating & restarting Edge resetting Edge settings to defaults updating & restarting computer switching wifi networks connecting to a hotspot using InPrivate mode using a new Edge profile (rule out interference from extensions) checking that English tts is downloaded in Time & language > Language & region turning Online speech recognition off and back on again resetting experimental features checking sound systems (they work, but just in case) doing a system reset (?) to 24 hours ago, which took about an hour and undid all the updates I just mentioned maybe something else I don't remember? The next thing I am going to try is give my computer a long nap. It's been a while, so maybe it just needs some shut eye. Otherwise, help????1.7KViews0likes2CommentsWhy can't I find the option "Send tab to your devices" in the tab menu?
I was using Edge stable Version 140.0.3485.66 (Official build) (64-bit), and it's up to date. I was looking for an option "Send tab to your devices" in the tab menu. Someone told me that try using preview version of Edge, and it worked. But I'm having problems during sync on Edge beta preview. The Edge beta preview is a brand-new install application. Unfortunately, it can't sync extensions data and open tabs from Edge standard that I'm using. So, I have to re-configure every extension manually. And imports all the scripts installed in tpmk and re-configure them manually. I hope there was a better solution that doesn't have to transfer data or losing data. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5554806/why-cant-i-find-the-option-send-tab-to-your-device?page=2&orderby=helpful&comment=answer-12237255&translated=false54Views0likes0Comments[MS Edge Android] UI Glitch: Suggestions Misaligned in Bottom Search Bar Mode
Hi everyone! I'm experiencing a strange issue with the search suggestions when using bottom bar mode. In Microsoft Edge, there's a blank space between the input bar and the suggestions above it, as shown in the attached image (see the red line). Is anyone else seeing this bug? Any idea how to fix it? Thanks in advance250Views0likes1CommentChrome and Edge flickering/lagging on second monitor (MSI GE75, RTX 2070) - Firefox works fine
Hello. I have an issue with my MSI GE75 laptop running Windows 11 with an RTX 2070. When I use a second monitor Dell connected via HDMI, content inside Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome starts flickering and lagging. Firefox works fine on the same setup. The laptop is MSI GE75 with RTX 2070 and Intel iGPU. The second monitor is a Dell. Browsers affected are Edge and Chrome. Browser not affected is Firefox. I set Edge and Chrome to run on the RTX 2070 in Windows graphics settings. All drivers are updated. All settings are on maximum. The issue is flickering and micro freezes while scrolling or playing videos on the second monitor. This does not happen on the main laptop display. I already tried switching Edge and Chrome to High performance GPU RTX 2070 in Windows settings with no effect. I updated NVIDIA and Intel drivers with no effect. I disabled hardware acceleration in Edge and Chrome which reduces the issue but performance drops. I set both monitors to the same refresh rate 60 Hz but the problem persists. Since the problem only happens with Chromium based browsers and only on the second monitor, I suspect it could be related to how Microsoft rendering pipeline interacts with Chromium hardware acceleration. Firefox which uses a different rendering backend works fine. My questions are: Why does this only happen with Chromium based browsers but not Firefox? Is this related to how Windows and Chromium handle GPU acceleration on a second monitor? Is there a known fix or workaround to make Edge and Chrome work properly on the second monitor? Thank you in advance for any advice.84Views0likes0CommentsEdge Read Aloud feature fails on landscape PDF documents with tables.
I've encountered an issue with the Read Aloud feature in Microsoft Edge when opening PDF documents in landscape orientation that contain tables. The Read Aloud option is available and can be activated, but it gets stuck loading indefinitely and never starts reading. No error message is shown. In contrast, the same feature works perfectly with portrait-oriented PDFs, even when those PDFs include tables. I tested this on both Windows and macOS with up-to-date Edge versions. The issue appears to be consistent and not OS-specific. My clients use tables in landscape PDFs for better readability and formatting. It’s unclear whether the problem is due to the landscape orientation alone or the combination of landscape + tables. However, tables in portrait PDFs do not cause any issues. Has anyone else experienced this behavior? Is there a known fix or workaround? Would appreciate any feedback or confirmation from the Edge team.92Views0likes0CommentsFeature Badge Request
Hello, How can I request a feature badge for my extension on the Edge Add-ons Store? My extension, https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/free-vpn-proxy-1vpn/dalhgafbhpdolibignjckpmiejgfddjp, follows Microsoft’s best practices for privacy, security, and user experience. It has more users and a higher rating than many VPN proxy extensions that currently have a feature badge. Without the badge, it doesn’t even show up when https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/search/1vpn, which seems like a poor experience for users. Thank You126Views0likes0CommentsFeature Request – Browser Lock for Enhanced Security in Microsoft Edge Mobile
Dear Microsoft Edge Development Team, I propose adding a Browser Lock feature in Edge Mobile to strengthen security. Given privacy concerns, a biometric authentication or passcode mechanism would help protect saved passwords, browsing history, and sensitive data from unauthorized access. This feature would enhance user privacy and position Edge as a leading secure mobile browser. I look forward to your feedback.70Views0likes0CommentsEdge PDF reader comment issue
Hi all, I tumbled upon an issue with Edge PDF reader, while adding comments in a PDF document. Issue While adding comments in my document, everything was working fine until it wasn't (added around ten comments before it stopped working). Basically I'm able to open the comment popup and type my comment, but unable to validate it. I did some digging online and found this tread (sadly closed) where user encountered the same issue. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftedge/forum/all/adding-comments-to-pdf-edge-document/92b96c52-a1e3-4433-a58e-29c76691fa7c I tried to work around the issue by restarting my browser, which did not help. However, it seemed to me that it's a mouse focus issue. How to reproduce it I got the issue while using two Edge windows side by side on the same monitor (each taking half the screen), while having a second monitor (that I use for other stuff) aside. The problem seems to solve itself somehow after some time when closing one of the two Edge window and putting the other in full screen. When I try to add a comment, I first highlight the text, then clic on the comment button on the popup menu and type my comment. However, when I want to validate the comment, the wrong cursor is displayed when I hover the "validate" button (the text insert cursor instead of the hand). I have to clic once (the text in the PDF doc previously highlighted is no more) which change the cursor to an arrow, then another clic which closes the comment menu, whitout adding the comment. Workaround I managed to add a comment in this situation by typing the comment, then using the tab key to select the "validate key" and press the enter key, and it worked. On a side note, I find it quite complicated to submit feedback, I think I spent a good half an hour before reaching this forum (I don't even know if it's the right place). Anyhow, I hope it can help686Views1like2Comments
