- Early preview of Microsoft Edge group policiesUpdate July 22nd 2019: Hey folks, Thanks for all the great feedback! We announced last week that Edge is now ready for Enterprise evaluations. You can find the latest ADMX files and MSIs/PKGs here: https://www.microsoftedgeinsider.com/enterprise And you can find all the enterprise-focused documentation here: https://docs.microsoft.com/DeployEdge There is also an Enterprise-focused section of these Insider forums which the team will be monitoring. Direct link here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Enterprise/bd-p/EdgeInsiderEnterprise Thanks again for the great feedback and engagement. Looking forward to continuing to hear from all of you! (Note: I have removed the ADMX zip file which was originally attached to this mail. Please see the latest versions at the links above) Original post follows: Hi everyone, We've been asked fairly regularly what policies we intend to support. We're still working on the list, but I’d like to share an early preview of the management policies we are working on for the new version of Microsoft Edge. You can find a zip file attached to this post, that includes the ADMX file, an English (US) version of the ADML file, and an English (US) HTML doc with the list of policies and descriptions. Please note that not all of the associated policies have been implemented by current canary or dev builds! Please send us feedback on the list, or the description text in the policies if something seems unclear. IMPORTANT This is a work in progress. We are sharing this early draft with you for your feedback, but the list will change between now and our final release, with policies being added, removed or changed based on feedback. The HTML file includes both Mac and Windows policies. Policies for managing updates aren’t included; those will be in a separate administrative template file. These are only in English (US). We are working to localize the policy descriptions and documentation before our final release. Please let us know if there are policies missing from the list, and give us feedback on the policy design. Thanks for your interest! - How to Install and Uninstall a Progressive Web Application in Microsoft EdgeWhat is a Progressive Web Application? A Progressive Web application (PWA) is a type of application software delivered through the web. It is intended to work on any platform that uses a standards-compliant browser, including both desktop and mobile devices. In Microsoft Edge, you can also make a normal website as an application. Installing a Progressive Web Application if the website developer has made it If you want to install a Progressive Web Application which was built by the developer in advance (You can check it by going to the right-hand side of your address bar and checking a plus icon). Then you can install it by following the steps given below: Go to the website of which you want to download the PWA. Go and check the right-hand side of your taskbar and click the install PWA (plus) button. After clicking the icon, a popup will appear where it will ask if you want to install the application. Click install to install it and the Web App will be installed. Installing a PWA from a standard website If you want to install a PWA of a website but the web developer of that website has not made it, Microsoft Edge has an exclusive feature to make a standard website as an app. We will see how to make one below: Go to the homepage of the website you want to install it as a PWA. Open the Ellipsis (...) Menu, then open the Apps menu and click Install this site as an app option. A dialog box will appear which will ask that what should be the name of the PWA which will be installed. By default, the name is the title of the webpage and you can change it by clicking the text box. Then click install to install the site as a PWA. The Website is now installed as a PWA How to uninstall a PWA To uninstall a PWA, go to manage apps page (edge://apps). Go to the app you want to uninstall and click the cross button on the right. A dialog box will appear which will ask if you want to remove the Progressive Web Application from Microsoft Edge. It will also ask if you want to delete the browsing data from the PWA on Microsoft Edge. If you are sure you want to uninstall, click remove. I hope that this article will help users to use Progressive Web Applications on Microsoft Edge.34KViews2likes2Comments
- [SOLVED] Can't login on Edge anymore! (Login and Sync issue)UPDATE 10 APRIL: Finally got a hold on https://support.microsoft.com/, initiated a live chat with support, and they had to install Install Quick Assist (Install Quick Assist - Microsoft Support) and they had to enter my PC and check what was wrong. They had no idea what was happening at the time (this all happened a few weeks ago - sorry for the late reply ut I had a lot of work delayed due to this error) and reinstalled Windows = issue solved. The following day however, windows asked me to update again and the issue returned ahahahaha but I removed it, and then the following system updates didn't carry that sign in issue anymore. Thank you all for your help and support during these VERY STRESSFUL DAYS! Hope the issue got solved for everyone! ____________________________________________________________ UPDATE 25TH - 4:52 GMT: - Run every possible workaround thanks to comments on my Microsoft Community thread and here (Tech) (Thank you everyone!) - Can't get pass the edge login pop-up => can't sync and have access to workspaces; - Already reported twice on Alt + Shift + I (with screen recording video and photos); - No 3rd party antivirus issue; - Some people on the Community post were able to surpass this by uninstalling KB5035853 - but I don't have it; - Using Windows 10 Home version 22H2, with Edge version: 123.0.2420.53 (64 bits) [also tried on Edge Beta version: 123.0.2420.53, but uninstalled it for now] ____________________________________________________________ UPDATE: 22nd OF MARCH: There was already some suggestions left here (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftedge/forum/all/cant-login-on-edge-anymore-sync-issue/6433b1dc-0f99-401f-86e6-90b36c7f2d34but it didn't work. Anyone? Please? _______ original message posted on 20th March _______ Already hit restore on windows' applications and restarted my pc, but every time I open Microsoft Edge now, on the top right corner it says my account is not logged in. And when I try to do it, the pop-up window says it's loading and then just turns to all white. Anyone can help me please? Don't want to lose my favourites, passwords and workspaces ;_; 1) already deleted all cookies 2) already confirmed if it was an issue with the Wi-Fi 3) already hit «repair» twice on the program 4) already tried to add a new account (didn't work cause the issue with the popup to login is the same) 5) already disabled all extensions and tried to login again after that 6) my account is not blocked - in fact I can login on Microsoft with it on my phone and website (otherwise I wouldn't be able to post this question). The issue is only with logging in on the Edge browser. 7) already deleted and reinstalled Edge. And yes, I restarted my pc every time I tried something. What else can I do? I need to access my Edge Workspaces!31KViews2likes28Comments

- Access Microsoft Edge Legacy/Classic (EdgeHTML) after installing the new version of Microsoft EdgeAccess Microsoft Edge Legacy/Classic (EdgeHTML) after installing the new version of Microsoft Edge (Chromium) This article describes how to access Microsoft Edge Legacy (version 45 and earlier) after installing the new version of Microsoft Edge. Note: This article applies to the Microsoft Edge Stable channel. The procedures in this article apply to systems that have been updated with the latest security updates, up to and including November 2019. When the new version of Microsoft Edge is installed, the old version (Microsoft Edge Legacy) will be hidden. All attempts to launch the old version will redirect the user to the newly installed version of Microsoft Edge. Before you begin Before using the detailed instructions in this article, consider the following 2 steps to enable a side-by-side browser experience. These steps will let your users run Microsoft Edge Legacy and the next version of Microsoft Edge (Beta channel) side-by-side. Prevent the automatic install of the next version of Microsoft Edge by Windows Update. For more information, see Windows Update: FAQ Install the Beta channel of the new version of Microsoft Edge. Note This side-by-side solution is less complex and requires less management that the detailed solution described next in this article. How operating system (OS) changes are triggered After the systems are fully updated and the Stable channel of the next version of Microsoft Edge is installed, the following registry key and value is set: Key: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\EdgeUpdate\ClientState\{56EB18F8-B008-4CBD-B6D2-8C97FE7E9062} Key value: BrowserReplacement Important This key is over-written every time the Microsoft Edge Stable channel is updated. As a best practice, we recommend that you don’t delete this key to allow users to access both versions of Microsoft Edge. How to enable a side-by-side experience with both versions of Microsoft Edge Installing the Stable channel of the next version of Microsoft Edge at system-level will cause the current version (Microsoft Edge Legacy) to be hidden. If you want to let your users to see both versions of Microsoft Edge side-by-side in Windows, you can enable this experience by setting the Allow Microsoft Edge Side by Side browser experience group policy to "Enabled". To enable the side by side browser experience policy: Open the Group Policy Editor. Under Computer Configuration, go to Administrative Templates>Microsoft Edge Update>Applications. Under Applications, select "Allow Microsoft Edge Side by Side browser experience" and then click Edit policy setting. Select Enabled and then click OK. Note By default, this group policy is set to "Not configured", which results in Microsoft Edge Legacy being hidden when the new version of Microsoft Edge is installed. For the best experience, the Allow Microsoft Edge Side by Side browser experience should be enabled before the new version of Microsoft Edge is deployed to your users' devices. If the group policy is enabled after Microsoft Edge is deployed, there are the following side effects and required actions: Allow Microsoft Edge Side by Side browser experience won't take effect until after the installer for the new version of Microsoft Edge is run again. Note The installer can be run directly or automatically when the new version of Microsoft Edge updates. Microsoft Edge Legacy will need to be re-pinned to Start or the Taskbar because the pin is migrated when the new version of Microsoft Edge was deployed. Sites that were pinned to Start or the Taskbar for Microsoft Edge Legacy will be migrated to the new version of Microsoft Edge. Source16KViews0likes2Comments
- Top Features that Microsoft Edge should learn from Vivaldi browserI just tested the latest Vivaldi browser and I really liked its features, they are very useful and some of them even were already requested in this forum by different users. The ability to resize only the UI using a slider. (so when I installed Vivaldi, the first thing I noticed was the small UI that was similar to Google chrome and I hated it, so i went to the settings and i was impressed there was this option that let me make the UI bigger without affecting zoom level of page contents) Vivaldi has big tab previews like Edge classic and it can Also be resized using mouse, so technically not like Edge classic but better than that because user can resize the previews. a side bar that user can add any website to and use it without going to other tabs. (I added my Instagram and Twitter feeds to the side bar so i can check them while browsing other websites.) Vivaldi lets me choose different themes and colors for the browser regardless of my Windows 10 accent color, this is super helpful. The ability to move the whole tab bar area to bottom/left/right/top. it's like Windows 10 when you can put your whole Taskbar to the left/right/top/bottom. All of these customizations happen without the need for a browser restart. Websites change the color of the browser UI. going to YouTube turns the UI red, going to Twich turns the UI to purple, Amazon and IMDB make it yellow, Facebook makes it dark blue and so on. Edge has this capability but it only applies to sites that are added as app (PWAs). this needs to be the default behavior of Edge so that it will feel more real when visiting a website. also for example if there are 4 tabs open (YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, Amazon), switching to each tab also changes the UI color. in Vivaldi the default search engine is Bing which I really liked and again was impressed! Lots of mouse gestures, custom controls and everything. it's a simple looking browser but with advanced and detailed settings page. there is no useless thing in Vivaldi that I could complain about. The ability to stack up tabs to get a meaningful view of the tab bar when user has more than 30 tabs open which is very normal these days. I tested Vivaldi on Windows Sandbox because it was my first time so I played it safe but now I'm installing it directly on my computer to use it besides Edge until the new Edge has all of these super useful features. I should mention that Vivaldi does not have PDF inking or highlighting.13KViews6likes18Comments
- Suggestion: Add page up and Page down button to PDF reader in Microsoft EdgeI have been using Microsoft Edge PDF reader for months now and have been loving it but the problem I find when using different PDF readers such as Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Teams PDF reader is that there is no page up and page down button in PDF reader in Microsoft Edge. I sometimes want to just go to the next page or the previous page but then I need to manually scroll to change the page, if there is an up and down button then it would just take me to the next page with a click and also align the page properly from the start in the window. If you like this suggestion, please consider sending feedback about it through the in-app feedback tool (Alt+Shift+I) in Microsoft Edge from your side as it would give this suggestion a +1 helping it make a part of Microsoft Edge in the future.11KViews2likes8Comments
- Suggestion: Open file and save as option before downloading in the same Google Chrome downloads UIThere is no option to open a file and installer directly when we download files in Microsoft Edge and we have to save the file in order to open the file which is sometimes timeconsuming. So, I am suggesting a feature where there will be the same Chromium downloads UI and there will be the option to open and save the file before downloading and the option to cancel the download will always be there in the ellipsis(three-dotted) menu. If you like this feature and want it to come to Microsoft Edge, then you can also send feedback through the in-built feedback feature(Alt+Shift+I) in Microsoft Edge which will give this suggestion a +1.9.7KViews2likes4Comments
