macos client
804 TopicsUnselecting "Use Mac shortcuts..." in settings does not work.
I have my mac keyboard settings set to use ctrl for copy and paste instead of the command key. No matter what setting I use in the Remote Desktop Client settings, it always passes command through to my virtual machine, whether I press command or ctrl. I simply want to pass my keyboard press directly through! This is very frustrating and makes using certain features in Visual Studio impossible as the only way to get to them is with a keyboard shortcut.macOS client Teams application window sharing
Please support Teams application window sharing when connected to VDI from macOS client. The Windows client supports this. It's unreasonable to have to share the entire screen especially on widescreen monitors. This is a deal-breaker for work meetings.39Views0likes0CommentsSupport URI schemes like ms-avd:connect across all platforms in Windows App
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-desktop/uri-scheme We would like to request the implementation of support for URI schemes, such as ms-avd:connect, in the latest Windows App. Currently, this feature is available only in MSRDC. We are developing a web app portal running in the browser that allows users to connect to their Azure Virtual Desktop instances. Having this feature in the Windows App across all platforms (including Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS) would significantly benefit our development and provide a seamless experience for our users.200Views3likes2CommentsCan't see my local printer on the connected Remote Desktop (Windows app on macOS)
I cannot see my printer on the remote desktop I connect to. The Printer redirection setting is enabled in the Windows app, and it worked with the same settings under an older iMac running Monterey. After upgrading to a MacBook Air M1, I can no longer see my printer when connecting to a Windows Server 2012 R2 system. Environment: Local Device: MacBook Air M1 running macOS 15.3.1 Remote Desktop Client: Windows App (11.1.2) from the Mac App Store Printer: EPSON L6290 with latest drivers and firmware Remote Server: Windows Server 2012 R2 Troubleshooting Performed: Confirmed printer redirection is enabled in the Windows app settings Verified that the printer works correctly with macOS Tested connecting to a Windows 11 laptop instead of the server, and printer redirection worked properly Previously used the same Windows Server 2012 R2 with an older iMac running Monterey and printer redirection worked correctly Downloaded an older version of the Windows App (older than v10.9.4) and was able to see the printer on Remote Desktop, but could not print (possibly due to Apple removed PSNormalizer in the Sonoma update) After some research on this issue, I discovered a Microsoft Learn post stating that printing from Remote Desktop broke after updating to macOS Sonoma (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/1379185/local-printer-redirection-to-remote-desktop-(for-m). According to the thread, the problem was supposedly fixed in Windows App v10.9.4 (2160). Based on my testing, this fix appears to be partial: Printer redirection works perfectly when connecting from my MacBook Air M1 to my old laptop running Windows 11 with remote desktop enabled but not working when connecting to a Windows Server 2012 R2 Could this be a specific issue with Windows Server 2012 R2 that wasn't fully addressed in the v10.9.4 fix? Are there any workarounds available for this specific scenario with Windows Server 2012 R2, will there be fix/patch for the WIndows app? This is very important for me because of my job, and I hope this issue can be fixed with an app update, as our company probably won't update the server because of this.1.1KViews0likes3CommentsmacOS Windows App Bug Report
Hello, I have two bugs I would like to report to the macOS Windows app development team. When typing fast, it converts characters to other characters, e.g. "or iṡit all" I had typed "or is it all" Teams app microphone doesn't work until I quit out of Windows app and reopen it. Sometimes I have to do it multiple times. Sometimes I have to complete quit out of Teams inside the Windows app and reload it. Sometimes I have to restart the Windows app CloudPC. Sometimes I have to restart both my host macOS system and the CloudPC system. Please add support for arbitrary control key remappings
I'd like to be able to use Windows App to connect to a Microsoft Dev Box from my Apple Mac computer. Because Apple and PC have different layouts of the control keys (Ctrl, Alt, Meta on mac; Ctrl, Meta, Alt on PC), muscle memory is broken when switching between a Mac keyboard and a PC keyboard. And because keyboards are embedded into machines (laptops), it's nearly impossible to find a unifying layout that allows for switching between a Mac and PC. To make matters worse, keyboard shortcuts for Copy, Paste, etc, are different on Mac (Cmd+X) than on Windows (Ctrl+X). Some users including myself use https://github.com/stevenilsen123/mac-keyboard-behavior-in-windows of swapping Ctrl and Alt on Windows in order to provide a Mac-like experience on Windows. When accessing a Windows Dev Box from a Mac, the problems are multiplied, because the inputs are necessarily Mac layout, but the system is necessarily Windows. The Windows App has already provided a feature in an attempt to help bridge the gap (Settings | General | Use Mac shortcuts for Close, Copy, Cut, Paste, Select All, Undo, and Find). It's great that this setting exists, as it already acknowledges the need to alter the keyboard layout between the host and the guest (remote machine). Unfortunately, this setting is woefully inadequate for creating a suitably uniform experience (in particular creating a familiar Ctrl, Win, Alt ordering of left-side control keys). What I'd really like to see is an interface in settings like "Use Mac shortcuts", but instead allow the user to provide arbitrary remappings, similar to how https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/powertoys/keyboard-manager. You might be asking yourself, why not just use Powertoys, the aforementioned technique, or some other remapping software on the Mac? The problem is that those techniques apply either to the host or the guest irrespective of whether the host is being used to control the guest. What I really need is a way for these keys to be swapped, but only when using Windows App on Mac to control a Windows machine.76Views1like0CommentsmacOS Optimize for Games when in full screen
This idea has been submitted several times but closed due to lack of votes. But, if you combine the separate issues, it would have more. The macOS menu bar that drops down when hovering near the top edge in full screen is very distracting. Parallels lets you "Optimize for games" which prevents this as well as other things, such as notifications. This should be an option so using in full screen is much more seamless.88Views0likes2Comments
