Many organisations have set up existing KPIs that help them to track the state of key measures across their organisation, with these either being transparent to all or shared at regular townhalls. The temptation would be to use these in their entirety within Viva Goals to power the key results of your OKRs but that would be a mistake. One of the super powers of OKRs is to have Focus and to share that Focus from the strategy of the organisation at the top down to each level. Empowering each layer in an organisation to define their own metrics for success for the top level objective brings a more personal goal that is aligned to what the organisation is striving to achieve. You can read more about my thoughts on this in a recent article I shared through Reworked - Why You Need Both OKRs and KPIs (reworked.co). Hey there, Very new to Viva Goals and have been playing around. I have 1 test objective with 1 key result and 2 actions aligned underneath. I've closed the 2 actions as 100% complete and status as closed. The progress of the key result and the objective didn't update after I did that. I thought the behavior is that is would roll up...since the 2 actions are done, wouldn't that update the key result and the objective? Or do I need to go into component and update separately? Appreciate any guidance!1KViews0likes1CommentWhy are future dates in the date picker for check in greyed out
Hi , I understand you can backed date a check in with no issue and by that I mean, if I create a check in today I will be able to amend it to any date prior to today but what if I want to amend a date of an older check in with a date that is lets say 3-4 weeks forward, it does not let me...( see attached examples - Check in created on the 30 Sep, need to be amended to the 30 Oct but can't despite today being the 6 of November, same for the one created on the 27/10 to be amended for the 30/10). In this case I only have the option to create a check in today with the same data and then backed date it to the 30th Oct and finally delete the one not needed/old one(duplicate), is this correct? Or am I missing something? I could understand the restriction for a date that hasn't happen yet well in the future but what if you are 2-5 days before month end and or making an early check in for the month end? Hi Everyone. I need to check-in progress via online excel file. I have problem to make connection to excel file in Viva Goal. I have already set up an excel connection, but when connecting to excel, I get an error: I don't know if it's viva goal's error or because I created the connection incorrectly, please help me.631Views0likes3CommentsPower BI integration! IS this an new BUG regarding Viva Power BI integration
I have previously had integration created between a Key Resolved to Power BI, but when I subsequently needed to change I discovered that the overview is now displayed with either no text, or that the text is in white with a white background. When I choose a random line, I get to move on and only then do I see which report I have a choice. This change has occurred recently. Does anyone know what this is from. Anyone else who has discovered this. The picture below illustrates the problem602Views0likes5CommentsSupporting Key Results that are Integers, especially when the goal is 1.
We are starting an OKR methodology implementation at our company and have chosen Viva Goals as the OKR Management tool. One challenge we have is that some of our Key Results are Achieved/Not Achieved types and that does not seem to be supported by Viva Goals (it was in some of the other tools we have looked into). As an example, we would have an objective that states we are going to be best in our industry by year-end for data security practices. And one of the Key Results supporting that Objective is that we get at least one recognized certification by a 3rd party as we have none today. So we have a metric: number of certifications, that we want to go from 0 to 1. However, because the KR is a floating number, the people doing check-in can write that the current value is something like 0.7. What they mean is that they feel they have done 70% of the work for getting a certification. But what we would like is for the value to stay at 0 until we get the certification as it depends on external stakeholders (the auditors) and even if we feel we have done 70% of the work (or even 95% of the work), it is very possible that we will never get the certification. While we can tell OKR owners to leave it at 0 until achieved, it would be easier to manage if we could create KR where it is explicitly stated that the metric is an Integer and that floating value are not allowed for check-ins. Anybody else has this need? What were your solutions? Any plan to bring a feature like this in Viva Goals?Solved502Views0likes1CommentBest practice for permanent KPI tracking in Viva Goals
Hello, We adopted OKR and Viva Goals for annual and quartely objective tracking. However, we would like to integrate our general/permanent KPIs into Viva Goals (KPIs that may or may not curently be tied to an OKR). I saw the feature allowing a Key Result to be pinned to the KPI dashboard, not all my KPIs already exist as a Key Result, or maybe the Key Result is for a specific period (quartely) and the KPI is permanent/annuel. Also I need a view of my KPI for "all company" and the "pin to KPI" doesn't work for multi-teams views. How is everyone managing company-wide, permanant KPI/scorecard ? I tested creating an objective named "Permanent KPIs" within the root "company" team, and KPI under it as Key Results, but this feels/looks a bit weird. I also tested setting the root "company" team as an additionnal owner of Key Results located elsewhere in Viva Goals, so they appear with the "company" view.500Views0likes3CommentsViva Goals Auto Synch Issue
Viva Goals auto synch with integrations has stopped working. Excel, Planner and HubSpot integrations were auto synching last week but recently stopped. Clicking the synch button will successfully update the KR, but auto synch does not appear to be working. Integrations have been reauthorized but this did not resolve the issue. How can I resolve this?500Views0likes2Comments
