Bottom Download bar lag 4-5sec
See the green progress bar in the edge icon has already started but download bar is not appearing yet there is aleast 4-5 sec lag which is not tolerable(400-500ms is OK). To reproduce this lag try downloading a file from OneDrive/Google Drive with a bunch of tabs. (*I have not closed the downloads bar) (*In built gamebar doesnot record the taskbar and I donot want to waste time in installing a screen recorder because it is very easy to reproduce)Collections are not syncing properly, only half of them are synced
I'm using Windows 10 latest version with Mac 10.15.4 both running latest Microsoft Edge Version 82.0.459.1 (Official build) canary (64-bit) on Windows I have only 1 collection with few items in it edge://sync-internals/ this screenshot is from Windows 10. but on Mac I see I have 3 collections. I recently (an hour ago) deleted some collections that I didn't need from Edge on Windows but they are not Properly syncing back to other machines. this screenshot is from Mac. so right now there are some collections that are only on Mac but not on Windows and Edge sync doesn't do anything about them. I tried fully closing and reopening Edge on Mac but didn't help. also tried pressing the "Trigger GetUpdates" button on edge://sync-internals/ but there doesn't seem to be any new updates for Mac to get from Windows the Collection sync is only half way broken, not entirely. when I add all open tabs on Mac to a collection, I can see the new collection on Windows after few seconds (Not automatically, only after pressing Trigget GetUpdates button as shown above). let me know if you need any more info to solve Collection sync problem, thanks.Which platform these "unavailable" flags are available on?
Normally the flags say which platforms they are available on, e.g. – Mac, Windows, Linux these flags don't say anything, just that it's not available on your platform. they are not available on Android either, Edge on Android only has 1 flag and it's neither of these. please send feedback from Edge browser about this issue, so that Edge team will hopefully specify available platforms in future updates.
Issue with searching in PDF using Microsoft Edge
Say I'm searching for the keyword "apple" in a PDF document using Microsoft Edge. The search immediately starts as I type in the first letter of the keyword, in this case "a". Edge then struggles to find all the numerous instances of this letter, which takes it about 10 seconds, during which Edge is not responding. This makes searching PDFs using Edge very tedious, rendering Edge irrelevant for PDF viewing and editing. Please advise. Aviram
PDF Application Clobbering are blocking my ability to use Edge by default for employees.
I would love to use Edge as the default browser. The ability to use enterprise site mode and the built-in IE mode are amazing but Chrome legacy browser support works OK and the PDF issues with Edge are just to much for me to change from using IE 11 as default (lots of legacy web apps here) and Chrome as our supported browsers internally. Generally if Edge would stop trying to be a PDF viewer it would already be deployed, less then a month after its official release. We pay lots of money for 3rd party PDF software that is critical to many aspects of our business and internal process flow to allow Edge within 10 ft of a PDF file other than to download it and open in that program I've got set these settings: 1) Settings -> Downloads -> Ask where to save each file before downloading -> Disabled 2) Settings -> Site permissions -> PDF documents -> Always open PDF files externally -> Enabled When my employee's click on a PDF to download it they are taken to the Edge PDF viewer and given a prompt that says the "PDF reader is disabled" and given directions to either turn it on or download a file. This means the Setting 2 above is not applied right as it shouldn't prompt. Of course they choose "Download file" but when downloading the file they are then prompted and asked where do they want to save the file( This means setting 1 don't ask where to save is broken). Then the file is downloaded to their computer where if they haven't set the option to always open a PDF with system viewer the file is downloaded breaking (setting 2) and not opening externally. Honestly this is a bad and confusing experience for my employees' they need the PDF in external programs as we are using many sophisticated features of 3rd party products that the builtin reader is useless for. It takes way to many clicks and way to much troubleshooting for the users to get PDFs to open in a way that our business needs them to for me to currently make Edge our default browser. Realistically the PDF's should be downloaded to disk by default once the setting to "Always open PDF files externally" is enabled and if the option is set to always open in system viewer that should work when the files are clicked, I also have not found a way to reverse the option to always open in system viewer certainly would be nice to know how to reverse that so I can figure out how to set that as default. I also need some officially supported way to prevent Edge from trying to become the default PDF viewer. I've yet to find a good way, my solution works but it's not good. GPO setting like "Do not clobber or break PDF usage on peoples computers" would be a good start.What does backed off status mean in Edge sync?
I see this after importing bookmarks from Firefox to Edge canary Version 82.0.451.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit) edge://sync-internals/ I think Microsoft needs to add explanation about it somewhere, like in Microsoft docs, so we can troubleshoot sync issues. it's not just "backed off", there are other phrases used that sometimes appear in the "message" column and I don't know what they mean. also what is the "Group Type" ?Edge only restore one window with tabs
Edge do not restore all windows and tabs, only a single windows with all tabs from only that window.
