Hello, As the title says i am having a hard time getting this to work. We have been using APP for a long time, but it has not been necessary for us to have different policies for managed (we only use iOS) and unmanaged devices (all mobile device types). Now i want to remove APP from managed devices all together, and only enforce this on unmanaged devices (BYOD) Please see attached image of how it is configured today. I also have an CA policy which requires APP when using MS apps, where i have added and "Filter for devices" exclude with following syntax: device.enrollmentProfileName -contains "iOS standard profile" (which cover our enrollment profiles, both are fully managed) When enrolling a managed device, APP still is enforced. Does anyone have any tips? I wanted to try here before submitting a ticket to MS. As far as i have found out , the app.devicemanagmenttype is the only rule that can be used to filter managed devices when used with APP.98Views0likes1CommentNew iOS/iPadOS, visionOS, tvOS and macOS ADE enrollment policies experience
By: Anya Novicheva – Sr. Product Manager | Microsoft Intune Coming with the 2606 service release (end of June), iOS/iPadOS and macOS automated device enrollment (ADE) profiles will move to a new infrastructure which enables Intune to speed up the delivery of new features. These will be the new enrollment policies experience for Apple devices enrolling through ADE. With this update, you’ll notice the authentication methods are better organized, there’ll be no Company Portal authentication method or automatic deployment of the Company Portal application, Apple-deprecated settings have been removed, and there’ll be more granular admin controls for the policies page. All newly created enrollment policies for iOS/iPadOS/macOS will automatically be part of the new experience. Existing enrollment profiles won’t be affected. You’ll be able to delete, edit, and assign existing enrollment profiles but you’ll no longer be able to create them with the old experience. We recommend creating a new enrollment policy and setting it as the default as soon as this feature releases so new enrollments will use the new policy as soon as possible. All new features releasing after will be part of the new enrollment policies experience moving forward and will not be added to the old enrollment profiles. Coming with the 2604 service release (end of April), you'll be able to create visionOS and tvOS automated device enrollment (ADE) policies with enrollment time grouping. Go to Devices > Enrollment > Apple > Enrollment program tokens > select a token > Enrollment policies > Create. Here, new visionOS and tvOS enrollment policies can be created and assigned to devices that have synced over from Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager. Additionally, enrollment policies can be deleted or set as the default by navigating to the ellipsis in a policy. Create a new enrollment policy for iOS/iPadOS and macOS ADE In the Microsoft Intune admin center, navigate to Devices > Enrollment > Apple > Enrollment program tokens > select a token > Enrollment policies > Create. Here, new enrollment policies can be created and assigned to devices that have synced over from Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager. Additionally, enrollment policies can be deleted or set as the default by navigating to the ellipsis in a policy. Benefits of the new experience: Enrollment time grouping support - Enrollment time grouping in Microsoft Intune The columns control can be used to select which columns should be default, which one should be the primary column, and which ones to show or hide. The search bar can be used to search by any column field contents and isn’t case sensitive. The filters control can be used to filter the policies by platform. We’ll add more filtering for the other columns soon. Sort each column by the ascending or descending order by clicking on the column header. No more automatic Company Portal app deployment from the enrollment policy itself or Company Portal as an authentication method option in the drop-down setting. The Company Portal app can still be used and sent down as a required or available app to the device depending on your organization’s needs. We always recommend using Setup Assistant with modern authentication for ADE policies with user affinity as it is the most secure method. However, if you still want to deploy the Company Portal authentication method your users or devices, you can do userless authentication (Enroll with no user affinity for authentication) and deploy the application as needed along with the required app configuration policy to the targeted devices. Note that this is not recommended. The “Install Company Portal”, “Install Company Portal with VPP, and “Run Company Portal in single app mode until authentication” settings aren’t supported and have been removed from the enrollment policy for iOS/iPadOS ADE. For more details refer to the blog: Move to Setup Assistant with Modern Authentication for Automated Device Enrollment Shared iPad for iPadOS ADE has its own authentication method for devices with no user device affinity. Setup Assistant with modern authentication is the default and recommended authentication method for ADE enrollment policies. Assigning new enrollment policies to devices The device assignment flow for ADE policies is the same. Within the policy, navigate to the Devices tab to select a device(s) and select Assign policy. Ensure that you’re assigning a new enrollment policy to the devices. Existing (old) enrollment profiles (only applies to iOS/iPadOS and macOS) Existing enrollment profiles will remain in Devices > Enrollment > Apple > Enrollment program tokens > select a token > Profiles. New enrollment profiles within Profiles cannot and should not be created. Existing enrollment profiles can be deleted, edited, assigned to devices, and viewed. Their device assignments will not be affected or changed. We recommend you migrate your ADE devices from being assigned to old enrollment profiles over to new enrollment policies and always have the Await final configuration setting set to Yes. Additionally, we recommend you set your default enrollment policy to one of your newly created ones from the Enrollment policies tab. Important: If you delete an old enrollment profile, the device rename is no longer enforced (that is if someone changes the device name). Sending the Company Portal app to ADE devices with user device affinity (optional) - iOS/iPadOS only Previously within enrollment profiles, the Company Portal app was sent down automatically to devices with the creation of Setup Assistant with modern authentication and Company Portal authentication profiles. With new enrollment policies, the Company Portal application will never be sent down automatically from the creation or assignment of the enrollment policy. For enrollment policy with user device affinity, we strongly recommend you set the authentication method to Setup Assistant with modern authentication as the most secure and seamless method. For Setup Assistant with modern authentication, the Company Portal is no longer required because of Just in Time registration and compliance Remediation for iOS/iPadOS with Microsoft Intune. However, if you still want to send replicate the Company Portal authentication method for your users or devices, you can choose to Enroll without user affinity (userless) and then deploy the application as needed, along with the required app configuration policy to the targeted devices. Assigning the correct app configuration policy based on the authentication method is critical if you’re sending the Company Portal app to ADE devices without user device affinity. Otherwise, the Company Portal will cause issues on the device and won’t auto-update correctly. However, we highly recommend Setup Assistant with modern authentication as the ADE authentication method for your Apple devices with user affinity. Based on the Company Portal authentication method you use, send the following XML for the app configuration policy: If you're using the Company Portal on an ADE device enrolled without user affinity (also known as Device Staging): <dict> <key>IntuneUDAUserlessDevice</key> <string>{{SIGNEDDEVICEID}}</string> </dict> If you're using the Company Portal on an ADE device enrolling with user device affinity, such as the Company Portal authentication method: <dict> <key>IntuneCompanyPortalEnrollmentAfterUDA</key> <dict> <key>IntuneDeviceId</key> <string>{{deviceid}}</string> <key>UserId</key> <string>{{userid}}</string> </dict> </dict> Stay tuned to What’s new in Intune for the release! This. I'm on a big iOS project. We have several users who need files on an ipad when traveling, and be able to open them when there is no internet connectivity. These files aren't intended to be edited, just 'read only.' These files do not contain any sensitive corporate data. The content lives in SharePoint online and I'm using OneDrive as a bridge to their sharepoint site. BUT the files can only be viewed on the ipad within the OneDrive app without internet access. These are devices using user affinity enrollment. Initially, the solution for users was to use the 'Mark Offline' feature within the OneDrive iOS app. I used Power Automate to have it fetch new files found in OneDrive and move them to the teams SharePoint site. These shared devices are locked down (an understatement). These will be used by the least computer savy/literate people and so having them dive through OneDrive folder after folder, even offline, is a tall order to ask. I totally get it and don't want them doing that either. So now I have to move onto plan B. How can we put the files that live within OneDrive/Sharepoint onto the home screen without an internet connection when the ipad is 'out in the field.?' This would make it infinitely easier for them. The key here is to not have end users manually moving files around. We don't want them to even have to go into OneDrive and mark folders/files offline, if possible. We don't have the SharePoint app on them. I tried the SP app a while back, and it is a hot mess of garbage. I could revisit it. Whatever I can get to work of course we'll have to modify our Intune polices. Thoughts?167Views0likes1CommentOutlook for iOS + Caller Identification
Hey folks, i'm struggling at this for years, as you can see in my previus post from 2020. Let me shorten this: Scenario We have iOS Devices with Outlook for iOS installed. The users have many contacts in their EXO Mailboxes When a user gets a call from one of his contacts, the phone number is presented instead of the name (no Caller identification) Approaches I already know this MS articles belonging to Contact Sync. So i've learned that this leads to a running contact sync without the need of an icloud Account. The contacts could be written directly between Outlook for iOS and the native contacts app. (Better than nothing ) The Problem is, that if contact sync is in use ANY App could see these contacts. (Including Whatsapp, etc...) Because of GDPR this is a no-brainer. Many other solutions are using Apple Call-Kit, so that the incoming call is identified (name is shown) just without any need of contacts to be present in the native contact app. I didn't found anything belonging Call-Kit or any other possible solution for this issue, yet. There MUST be any better solutions except syncronizing all the contacts, isn't it? ANY Answer is highly appreciated. (At least the positive ones ) Regards, Patrick!7.1KViews2likes10Commentsenrolling in Intune MacBook Pro with an M5 Pro
Hi everyone We have tested the Wi-Fi and ethernet profile without success with Apple businesses manager. The Wi-Fi and the ethernet connection itself works, but the enrollment process into Intune does not complete successfully. At this stage, we cannot sign in, and neither the Wi-Fi nor the Ethernet connection appears to be working. The device is a 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M5 Pro chip, running macOS 26.5.1 the device connects to the server, the settings begin to apply, but the process suddenly stops, and we are then unable to log in. These are steps followed : Synchronize the device from Apple Business Manager to Intune. Assign the enrollment profile to the device. Perform a device wipe/reset. Start Automated Device Enrollment (ADE). Complete the device setup and user sign-in. The device successfully enrolls into Intune. Intune begins deploying configuration profiles, compliance policies, security policies, and applications. During the policy application process, Wi-Fi connectivity stops responding. The device loses network connectivity and cannot continue synchronizing policies. We are unable to sign in because the enrolment process has not been finalized. As a result, we have to wipe the Mac and start the process again each time. We have disabled some policies, but we are still experiencing the same issue. Have anyone experienced any issues like that ? Regards,148Views1like1CommentWord for iPad cannot edit documents marked as “Recommended Reading” in Windows
I have a Word document created in Windows that was saved with the “Recommended Reading” option. When I open it in Word for iPad, the file is locked in reading mode and there is no option to switch to editing mode. Word Online can edit the document without any issues, so it seems that the limitation affects only the Word app for iPad. This appears to be a recent limitation, since the document could be edited without any issues a couple of months ago. Is this a known limitation in Word for iPad? Is there any way to remove this flag from the iPad or force editing mode without having to return to Windows? Thank you.85Views0likes4CommentsDrawing on OneNote for IOs
I'm ready to give up on OneNote... it used to be good. I have two problems that regularly interrupt my work. The first problem I noticed was that when I double tap my Apple Pencil, although it is set to go to the eraser, it does that for a brief moment and then turns into that text-to-type pen. The second, and more important, problem, is that quite regularly all the drawing pens suddenly are greyed out and there is nothing I can do (other than possibly waiting a long time) to get them working again. The first problem I can work with, it's just annoying, the second has got me ready to shift my notes from OneNote. Has anyone got any suggestions for fixing either of these? The support crew have had me try the same things each week, and none of it works. Thanks in anticipation!77Views1like1Comment
