Performance improvements might vary depending on your device specifications and individual browser habits. Details: Puts background tabs to sleep after 5 minutes of inactivity (if sleeping tabs is on). Timer will go back to its previous selection when you're not in performance mode. Install Site as App / Remove option 'Open in Microsoft Edge'
It is a pretty cool thing to make a website as an application, however it is not so cool to leave the escape possibility by giving the user option to open the site in Edge from this application (The Settings and more menu in the title bar). The cool use case for opening website as an application is the situation when users are supposed to be able only to use a limited number of websites and are not supposed to use any web browsers as such. The option 'Open in Microsoft Edge' hinders the use of this Edge feature for such use case. On the other hand if the user is not restricted to use the installed web browsers, then it makes very little added value to open the same site in a normal Microsoft Edge application. Please consider removing the option to open web site in Microsoft Edge when the website is installed as an app.trackpad gestures in edge: next tab, next page, random, save pdf, etc.
We have discussed the 2x to close tabs last time. i think that using browsers without the need to use the keyboard is the best browsing experience we can get. this means to use only trackpad and the mac display. At the moment on ghostbrowser i use gestures like 3 tap go to next tab; extensions to go back, next tab, merge windows, etc. i think you should implement something like better touch tool (there are different gestures example) in edge. examples: -drag a tab with 2 finder down = reopen the main page (this mean if i visit a then b ... to z, you open again a)* - 4 finder tap: save pdf - spread fingers to open a random page or to open multiple random pages* (example if the website has a link like xxx.com/xxx/page=1 you open page 35, 46, 87). we configure such things (like how many tabs, the exact interval for each website) inside setting. - circle with 1 finger to search selected text in pubmed, with 2 finders in edge store .... other example (that i don't use at all, because i don't like it) are for what would we use gesture? save/download go next/previous page (from page 3 to 4) previous/next tab merge windows search open tabs (random, or open page 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 at the same time, then other 10, so 11,12,...,20)* go to the first page you opened* copy/share urls etc. * this can be added inside edge without gestures too, because at the moment is not possible (except via extensions). posting from latest available Edge Version 82.0.418.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit) the Share looks like this so it expects user to have the UWP apps installed. there are problems with that: UWP is not available on all platforms. on Windows 8.1, on Mac, and soon on Linux. also some popular apps like Instagram, their UWP version haven't been updated in ages. Facebook app is also old. also my installed app list in Edge (PWAs) look like this: You see, I've added my favorite social network websites as apps in Edge, PWAs are better, they do not require installation and experience is the same in all platforms. so now when I want to share something on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit etc, I have to use the method that I've been using since 15 years ago. the old copy paste method. because the Share functionality is totally useless at the current state. my suggestion: make Share functionality in Edge to detect the installed PWA apps, websites added as an app, and then offer them on the Share window as options. when I have Twitter added as PWA in Edge, I obviously don't want it double on my system by installing the UWP version. the same applies to the rest of the social networks.optional suggestion: new menu bar app for mac
i wish i could launch one of my edge profile (no matter from which edge) directly in the menu bar. so you create a profile launcher.app and then i can search a profile installed on my 4 browser, without need to launch a browser. at the moment we can do similar things once the browser is launched using the dock icon or using the sync icon or using the menu bar option inside edge. but there is still the limit that we can do it for one browser. we cannot search profiles installed on all 4 browser. plus every time you launch the browser, you open the last used profile. so we first need to close and then switch (which requires time). profile switching is slower in edge compared to google. now with this new app you would simply launch a profile inside an edge app, without launching the previous profile.SS11: Datahoarding Suggestions - Save PDF, Save Page, Save Images, One Drive, Web Archive, etc.

Tab grouping in Edge insider canary is worse than Tab grouping in Google chrome stable Edge insider Version 81.0.375.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit) VS Google Chrome Version 79.0.3945.88 (Official Build) (64-bit) so in Google chrome, when I go to a website (Any website) and then right-click on a link (could be video, post, picture etc), Google chrome automatically puts my original tab and the new tab into one group and gives it a color. Then if i open a new website in a third tab, it has no group by default but once i right-click on a link on that website and open it in a new tab, the same grouping happens. these groups with different colors help us recognize which tabs belong to which website/group and make things easier to manage. in Microsoft Edge, I have to right-click on each tab and create groups manually. Suggestion (SS): 40 Classification: DATAHOARDING On Vivaldi i see different people posting other suggestions related to hoarding, so i decided to post here my other suggestions too (part 1 https://link.ws/edgess11), even if i know not all users will use it. I know that such suggestions can be reached (or at least in some parts) via scripts, extensions, terminal or macapps and are not the main focus of browsers. Said that, if you are interested read the post, otherwise skip it. I give you simply ideas, and such ideas are really hoarding focused. I know that this is maybe not legal for all websites too. those are just ideas. First we start with a feature that i never discovered before and after trying it i discovered in opera for mac we need to use option. i tried on edge and is not supported 2) i already talked about overlay button with both integration to mac or to onedrive as destination, or save to different folders in right menu, or drag drop download, or other https://link.ws/edgedatahoarder. another option would be to add a download button below each video and photo, no matter where. 3) about a smart select feature i already reported you before. Implemented on datahoarding activities means select 20 links and download all pdf at the same time (or other files). 4) a feature to detect images, document, movies, pdf in the site and download all that at once, or download only pdf for example. About images, would be better to download the full image, and not small pictures. 5) maybe add both option save to mac and open pdf in tab and maybe using a different destination, so download to /user/blabla/pdf and maybe sorted by source website. in such way we can directly read the paper too, and if needed we can copy that to other clouds directly once you implement the suggestion of importing in onedrive or you can directly integrate an option save to onedrive and to mac at the same time. 6) a way to copy a single link to a list and then copy the whole url in this list (this doesn't mean to use edge collections). once we are done we could use such lists to download files via other web apps, or mac app or terminal 7) a way to submit url to terminal directly, by adding specific terms (example https://www.pair.com/support/kb/paircloud-downloading-files-with-wget/). so we can manually add terms for wget, youtubedl, etc.. once we visit a page, we click right click or on the menu bar and select send to terminal and then we select wget or ytdl, or other. 😎integration of 7 for 6) 9) if i select 10 tabs an option to copy urls and maybe add support for 7) or 4) 10) a way to save such things to favorite without need to use bookmarks. in such way we know exactly where we get such files if someone ask us where we get that. the problem is that files show such metadata, but a lot of times is missing. 11) about 10) the feature of yesterday https://link.ws/edgevvss1 can help too. 12) a way to autorename all downloaded files, example if i use macuser A edge profile B i want on all my files a name like " xxx - macA edgeB" 13) renaming can be used for other goals too, like add the title of the post to the pdf, the url, or other information. 14) smart macos auto tags: we configure specific rules "like from website xx add tag xx" and add tag macA and edgeB too (related to 12.) 15) optionally add comments, but tags are much more useful. 16) like 5) an option to download files by source urls in specific folders. 17) torrent support like coccoc (i already reported that as comment in another post) 18) integrated vpn (same here) I copy the wish of another user here tooSS33: smart pip mode - better tiktok integration (or other video social/websites) picture-in-picture
