Workspaces you can create multiple Workspaces in Edge, have tabs in each of them, and when you close all Edge windows and open Edge again, you still have your workspaces, it's like a combination of tabs set aside + tab groups + pinned tabs experimental feature in canary, probably CFR. works really well so far58KViews25likes95CommentsVideo Super Resolution Missing Options in Setting
Enhance videos in Microsoft Edge (Flag: #edge-video-super-resolution) is missing critical options in setting, making it impossible to function properly. In Version 136.0.3240.29 (Official build) beta (64-bit), as well as the previous beta build, it is missing the option to choose from three methods of video enhancement, as shown in screenshot. Here is the setting from latest beta build: This is how it is supposed to look: Thus, beta build defaults to Microsoft Super Resolution and I can't find a way to use graphics driver enhancement like RTX Super Resolution, which is critical to my experience. Also, HDR is no longer supported when video enhancement is enabled, which I believe is a limitation of Microsoft Super Resolution.Solved7KViews23likes24CommentsVertical Tabs! Enable control of pin/collapse pane (please!)
Edge's native implementation of vertical tabs when combined with tab groups make it an ideal browser for organized productivity and that's why I continue to use it as my daily driver on all desktop platforms. There is just one major pain point I find with using the vertical tab features: toggling its visibility. Of course, using vertical tabs makes more efficient use of screen real-estate (for landscape-oriented displays), but that does mean less screen space for actual webpage content, a reality which becomes obvious with 2+ vertical-tab-enabled browser windows open side-by-side. Thankfully, Edge includes convenient UI buttons to "Collapse" and "Pin" the vertical tab pane's visibility, but this is currently the only way to toggle this behavior, diminishing productivity of keyboard-centric use. Recently, the Edge team added the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+,(comma) — which switches the UI between vertical and classic tabs at the top. This is great, but it negates the value of having a collapsible vertical tab pane which would still show webpage favicons in the same visual paradigm of a vertical list and feels like a much more natural UI toggle. Some other users in the Edge Insider community have pointed out that such a side-panel collapse/expand key shortcut exists in many other popular programs as well. I've been trying to find some way of automating the collapse/pin behavior of the vertical tab pane, but it doesn't seem feasible without a proper menu option. Please consider adding a key shortcut specifically for this behavior, or instead include an option in the alt-menu dropdown that can be triggered via something like Power Automate. Thanks again to Edge team for all their work8.4KViews19likes4CommentsPlease add "undo" feature to PDF inking
Add "undo" feature to PDF inking so that when we accidentally erase/remove something (inking, highlight etc) we be able to undo it, also would be useful to use the "undo" feature for when we add inking so instead of using eraser we just undo the action. the undo feature can either be tied to the usual CTRL + Z shortcut or a button on the PDF toolbar in Edge. (also sent using feedback button on Edge)12KViews18likes12CommentsPortable variant of Edge-Chromium
Would it be possible to create an official portable version of Edge-Chromium that is fully self contained and can be run from any location including external storage such as a USB flash drive? The portable variant should not write any files/folders or leave any trace on the main "system drive" or elsewhere other than the designated portable folder. There currently is an unofficial portable version of Google chrome available from portableapps.com however, folders are created in the main "system drive\AppData" location despite initiating using switches such as "--user-data-dir=" and "--disk-cache-dir=" instructing chrome otherwise. The folders created are "C:\Users\X\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Crashpad" and "C:\Users\X\AppData\Local\Temp\GoogleChromePortable" Additional files and folders are also created in system drive\AppData\Local\ depending on the usage of the browser. I believe Opera offers an official portable version that is fully self contained, so it executes, caches data and installs extensions in a specific portable folder ONLY without writing anything to the "system drive" or elsewhere although, I believe when updating, files are temporarily written to the main system disk. I understand that chromium has its limitations such that settings and extensions per profile are tied to a specific computer, so if one was to copy/install the portable directory to a USB stick, insert into a different computer and execute, expecting it to retain the aforementioned parameters, it does not. This appears to be a deliberate design function however, one can create a Google account and sync their settings thus retain the parameters. Similarly, I would imagine that synchronising settings using a Microsoft account is required in Edge-Chromium. If Microsoft could offer a variant that can override this behaviour and retain the settings between different machines (similar to the unofficial Firefox Portable) that would be a huge leap ahead of the rest of the chromium based competition however, a fully self contained, proper portable browser would be perfect at this stage. Here are the file types Edge insider browser currently recognizes in downloads My suggestion is to let us choose a separate Download location for each file type. Because: I usually download games or movies (compressed files for games and video files for movies/series) that are big (>10GB) and in multiple parts. I want them to be saved on somewhere else other than C drive, such as my HDD drive for archieve. I want PDF files to be automatically saved in Documents folder/PDF. I want downloaded Image file be saved in my OneDrive/Pictures folder so they get automatically synced and uploaded to my OneDrive cloud space. I want Audio files be saved in a Different folder where my music player program and Spotify watch those folders for music files (MP3, AAC etc). I want unknown files (files with extensions other than those mentioned above) to be saved in the default download location so I can decide what to do with them later. I want .exe files (programs) to be automatically saved in a different partition where the rest of my programs are. And so on. there is currently one global download location having to choose a download location and browse for a folder for each of them every time is not convenient, so, Please Let us Choose Download Location For each File Type separately in Edge insider browser. also let Edge insider Sync these download location settings with cloud so Users won't have to apply all of these modifications Again after reinstalling browser or OS change, etc. Thanks6.7KViews16likes5CommentsInprivate mode seriously needs to have brought back the blue icon in the top left corner
One thing that the new edge is lacking and seriously needs to bring back that internet explorer and the old edge had was that in the top left corner an inprivate icon to indicate you're using inprivate browsing. The current inprivate mode looks too chrome like and is easy to mistake it for chrome. With the blue inprivate icon in the top left corner, it would give edge a sense of uniqueness from chrome and it was in both the old edge and internet explorer, it worked perfectly then and there really is no reason to not bring it back. Looking at a side by side comparison, the browser looked better when it had the blue inprivate icon when you were using inprivate mode3.9KViews16likes7CommentsFeature request: Closing and restoring all of your profile windows
Hello, I'm trying to migrate from Chrome to Edge. I'm using the multi-profile feature a lot (work / private profile for instance). One feature I'm really missing from Chrome is the ability to close all the open windows of a profile. I didn't find a way to do this with Edge in case you have more than one window open with your profile. You have to close the windows one by one and once you open your profile again, it will restore only the last window you closed. The menu > "Close Microsoft Edge" will close all your profiles, not really useful to fulfill this use case. Chrome shows an entry on your profile menu once you have more than one window open: Then, it will open back all of your windows once you switch to this profile again. I tried with Edge versions stable (91.0.864.67) and Beta (92.0.902.40). Did I miss the option or edge flag to accomplish that? Many thanks in advance, David2.3KViews16likes9Comments
