blocking spam
1 TopicHave I Blocked too many emails?
I got a new windows 11 laptop recently and l’m learning and relearning a lot of stuff. I’ve kept my old Win-10 desktop computer, but disconnected it from the Internet. The new computer is connected. I’m transferring files back-and-forth via thumb drive. That is doable but a bigger pain than I had thought it would be. I'm also keeping lots of how-to notes. But my biggest problem (for quite a while) has been Spam/Phishing email. That’s not new or caused by windows 11, but it’s more complicated because 10 & 11 are different. I've had to spend a lot of time talking to W-11 AI about navigation etc. Without AI I would have many more problems. I also block emails via iPhone, but that's really, really time consuming. I’ve had the same MSN email address as long as I’ve had a computer. (40-45 years). I also have Gmail & Yahoo email accounts, but rarely even look at them. I get tons of junk emails EVERY day. Way back when, Outlook had a limit on the total number of blocked addresses that it saved. I’m sure I have overflowed that limit by now. It seems that nothing is going to junk. I waste a lot of time blocking one by one, only to have to repeat over and over; often on the same day. I'm not definitely sure the addresses are exactly the same, but the messages are recognizably the same. Is it possible to empty my junk list and start over from scratch (or maybe use just the domains that I have already blocked)? Something similar to "Copy as Path" & removing duplicates could probably do that. I know I would have to tell Outlook to start blocking via domain instead of full email address. I don’t know how to do any of that, but it would be foolish for me to try to map out all the steps if my plan isn't doable. I'm certainly open to all suggestions. Also, how do I flag this post so that I receive notifications of replies?2Views0likes0Comments
