I just got back from SQL Pass Summit 2024 and I was told that I could ARC enable all of my SQL Servers so I would have a single pane of glass to view and scan logs, configurations, view best practices etc. Unfortunately, when I got home, I realized that since we have SQL Servers on Azure VMs we can't use Azure ARC to manage them. Unsupported configurations Azure Arc-enabled SQL Server doesn't currently support the following configurations: ... Multiple instances of SQL Server installed on the same host operating system with the same instance name. SQL Server in Azure Virtual Machines. An Always On availability group where one or more replicas is on a failover cluster instance. Since all our Azure VMs have the SQL Agent installed how can we unify our management experience in Azure?40Views0likes1CommentSQL Server 2019 SKU Upgrade for Entra

Hi All, just wondering if I can get some assistance with an issue that I am having. I am trying to setup backup to URL in SSMS to Azure. I have created the credentials and the subplan and it would backup ok on the first day with no errors, however on the second day I would get the following error: Failed:(-1073548784) Executing the query "BACKUP DATABASE [SQLDB] TO URL = N'https:..." failed with the following error: "A nonrecoverable I/O error occurred on file "URL: https://azstorage.blob.core.windows.net/Storage/SQLDB_backup_2023_11_23_003000_3611749.bak:"Backup to URL received an exception from the remote endpoint. Exception Message: Unable to connect to the remote server. BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally. I have tried dropping and recreating credentials, windows host server and SSMS are up to date (SQL 2017), installed latest cumulative updates, created a different storage account.392Views0likes0CommentsCan SQL runtime and CAL licenses transfer to Azure?
Does anyone know if there's a SQL Server Licensing Guide? I'm asking because I'd like to know if a client already has a SQL runtime and CAL licenses, are they transferrable to use on a SQL virtual machine in Azure (dedicated to Dynamics GP)”? More specifically, can the SQL Server Runtime they currently own (provided by being current on their Microsoft Business Advantage maintenance), be used in explicitly in Azure (on a virtual machine) and be in compliance with all licensing rules and regulations? As far as I know, if the customer is bundling a full version of SQL then they are in breach of licensing, and they need to be properly licensed by deploying a Azure SQL Server VM which includes a SQL license - Frequently asked questions (FAQ) for SQL Server on Azure VMs - Azure SQL | Microsoft Learn Can anyone confirm and/or clarify my understanding please? Hi, how are you? I wonder if you can help me to understand something about Azure SQL Database in the Azure Calculator. This is: I have read extensively here and here. I understand that Min and Max vCores is the range in wich the compute will be scaled and billed, but I can get: CPU Used Memory Used Duration. ¿Is this the auto pause delay (link)? I hope you can help me to understand Best regards JonaSolved2KViews0likes10CommentsDigital event: Extend to the Cloud with Azure VMware Solution
