Hello, I want to reduce the storage used by an azure SQL database. I have managed to reduce the "allocated space" to below 6 GB. Can I change the "Max storage" to 6 GB without impact on the database itself? I can not find a definite answer online. Kind Regards, BasSolved196Views0likes3CommentsUnable to enable RCSI
We created our Azure SQL database few years ago and at that time RCSI was not a default setting. I am trying to enable RCSI now but unsuccessful. Database details: We have Azure SQL database (single database) in East US. A read replica (Geo-replication) was created against it. Steps identified from documentation to enable RCSI: ALTER DATABASE [DatabaseName] REMOVE SECONDARY ON SERVER [SecondaryServerName]; ALTER DATABASE [DatabaseName] SET SINGLE_USER WITH ROLLBACK IMMEDIATE; ALTER DATABASE [DatabaseName] SET READ_COMMITTED_SNAPSHOT ON; ALTER DATABASE [DatabaseName] SET MULTI_USER; ALTER DATABASE [DatabaseName] ADD SECONDARY ON SERVER [SecondaryServerName]; Second script to set single user returns below error. I am unable to proceed after this. Any help to resolve the problem and enable RCSI is appreciated. Hi folks. I'm just getting started with ADS as we need to move an existing on-prem DB to Azure. I 'm trying to use ADS to set up the target DB. I installed the SQL Database Projects extension and created a project from our on-prem DB, but every time I try to build it I get Error MSB4020: stdout: C:\Program Files\dotnet\sdk\7.0.403\Sdks\Microsoft.NET.Sdk\targets\Microsoft.NET.Sdk.targets(1199,3): error MSB4020: The value "" of the "Project" attribute in element <Import> is invalid. I work with a team of statisticians who would like to programmatically access an Azure SQL database via R/R Studio without human interaction. Access is setup currently with Microsoft Entra with MFA. The team ideally want to run their R script and connect to the database, without having to be there to enter their login credentials and MFA, can this be done via a key or SAS token? What is the best or recommended method to do this? Thank you. Z49Views0likes0CommentsCopy schema (with data) from one Azure SQL database to another Azure SQL database
Hallo, We need copy 3 schemas (incl tables, indexes, keys and data) to another Azure SQL database. We decided to switch from 2 database to one more powerful. There is a lot of data, smallest database is about 1TB data. I tried do it SSMS or BCP on client VM but it does not work due amount of data and transfer speed. I am looking something to do this in Azure portal. Both Azure databases are on one Azure host. Current situation: database source A_DB schemas c11, c12, c13; about 1TB data in 300 tables database target B_DB schemes c21, c22, c23, c24, c25; Hyperscale and 3TB data Desired result: target B_DB after copying the schema consists from schemas with the date c11, c12, c13, c21, c22, c23, c24, database A_DB can be deleted Please advise what azure service or tool can i use for it. It's a simple task in Oracle but it look more complicated in Azure SQL environment. So far I have found how to exp/imp or backup/restore an entire database, but nothing about how i can import schema with a lot of data in Azure environment. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-sql/database/authentication-azure-ad-logins-tutorial?view=azuresql says I can create a Login in Azure SQL Server from a Microsoft EntraID Security Group. I can, and it works, and it appears in sys.server_principals as type_desc 'EXTERNAL_GROUP' and type 'X'. (I note that non-group EntraID logins appear as type_desc 'EXTERNAL_LOGIN' and type 'E'.) But when I try the next step in the article, which is to create a User from the Login, I get the error '<EntraIDGroupName> is not a valid login or you do not have permission'. I have successfully created Users from non-group Logins, so I don't think it's a permission problem. Is it the case that, despite the article, you can't actually create a group user this way - I have to create individual logins and users for each potential EntraID user I want to have access the database? Or am I missing a trick somewhere?Solved1.6KViews2likes2CommentsHourly pricing on SQL database Provisioned VS Serverless
Hi, I've beed searching and using the azure calculator to approximate a budget for a project I'm working on. Question 1: If the Provisioned tier doesn't have auto pause-resume, and you don't stopped manually ¿Why Azure calculator offers you to calculate price in a hourly demmand? Question 2: If the Serverless tier does have auto pause-resume, ¿Why Azure calculator doesn't offers you to calculate price in a hourly demmand? I trying to figure out the price of Serverless just for 10 hours of activity before the automatic stop takes effects. Best regards Jona654Views0likes0Comments
