Hello folks! If you’re one of those Devs/ITPros using the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) you know how useful and powerful it can be. We announced during Microsoft Build last week that WSL2 will be broadly available in June. But I could not wait. Here’s how I installed it. It’s pretty simple. Check it out!74KViews5likes5CommentsMy top 5 Features in Windows Server 2019
Hello folks, I’m currently on Microsoft Ignite – The Tour in Sao Paulo Brazil and I just delivered a theater session about my top 5 features for Windows Server 2019. Well this was hard for me to nail it down to 5. There is so much goodness in this new release. A lot of stuff that can help you start using some cloud services to support and strengthen your own environments. As I said before, hybrid is in our DNA. let’s get started….53KViews4likes0CommentsWLinux – The best WSL for Windows 10
A couple of Windows 10 releases back, Microsoft delivered the Windows Subsystem for Linux. The Windows Subsystem for Linux allows you to run Linux distros, like Ubuntu, Debian, Suse and others, on Windows 10. Around the Microsoft Ignite 2018 timeframe another distro was released to the Windows Store called WLinux. WLinux is a Linux environment for Windows 10 built on work by Microsoft Research and the Debian project. WLinux is a custom Linux distro built from Debian specifically for use on the WSL. While other distros are available for WSL, WLinux is the first optimized for use by users of WSL for WSL. It helps developer run Linux tooling on Windows and integrates into perfectly into Windows. Adding GPU compute support to WSL has been our #1 most requested feature since the first release. Over the last few years, the WSL, Virtualization, DirectX, Windows Driver, Windows AI teams, and our silicon partners have been working hard to deliver this capability.6.1KViews2likes0CommentsWSL CommandLine Support
I noticed while doing some Advanced Hunting in MDATP, that there is some visibility into processes executed via WSL. But, the ProcessCommandLine's are all blank; we can only see the process name. Will CommandLine visibility for WSL processes be added in the future?1.1KViews0likes0Comments25201.1000 is failing with error 0xc1900101
**UPDATE** I orginally reported it as below, but it turns out after setting my clock back and re-trying the installation, that 25201.1000 is failing with error 0xc1900101. 25201.1 Insider Update Immediately Expired: Broken WSL According to my update history, last night I had the Windows 11 Preview 25201.1 applied to my machine, and this morning WSL was broken and I'm constantly nagged by a message "This build of Windows will expire soon". However when I look at winver, it shows that I have Version 22H2 25169.1. I'm unable to fetch any new updates, and Windows Update won't apply the latest antivirus patch because it says there's a problem with my PC system time (there is not). I use WSL every day and now both WSL and subsequently Docker are broken because of this... it's rather infuriating. Any suggestions on what I can do from here?1.1KViews0likes0Comments
