Upgrade
4 TopicsAfter Communication Site upgrade of the root site full-width sections are limited
If you upgrade root site's team site template with a communication site template, the new home page (front page) contains one section that can have a full-width web part and it's the first section (uppermost). You cannot add a full-width section down on the page because it's not available in Add Section menu. Is there a possibility somehow to allow full-width sections also on other slots on the new homepage? The upgrade was done with Powershell: Enable-SPOComm... and it was otherwise successful.856Views0likes3CommentsSharePoint Foundation 2013 migration & upgrade to SharePoint Server 2019
In the migration process when we upgrade the custom solutions from SP 2013 to SP 2019, first we will deploy the custom solutions to SP 2016 and then to 2019. Do we need to upgrade the custom solutions twice to make it compatible for both 2016 and 2019 environments respectively? Or 2016 and 2019 both supports same .Net framework and we will upgrade our solutions only once? Because we would required to open each custom solution source code in Visual Studio and upgrade it for the targeted 2016 or 2019 environment. The custom solutions upgrade and deployment is the only phase where I am confused.915Views1like0CommentsSample Project Plan for upgrade from SharePoint 2013 to 2019
Are there sample project plans for upgrading SharePoint to 2019, in particular SharePoint 2013 to SharePoint 2019? If not, and if I create one, where would be a good place to store it? SharePoint PnP or some other place? https://github.com/SharePoint/PnP1.8KViews0likes1CommentAttach and upgrade multiple content databases in SharePoint
Hello everyone, I am working on a script right now to try and speed up the rate at which we attach content databases to a new SharePoint farm to cut down on our upgrade time when moving to SharePoint 2016. I started to create a script to launch a new window when trying to attach a database from a list of DB names in a text file, but when I try to run it I get a new PowerShell window with a bunch of unreadable text in it and its impossible to understand. Can anyone point me in the right direction on sending these variables to a new window in PowerShell? Example code is below. Thanks -BJ Add-PSSnapin microsoft.sharepoint.powershell #Input DB Names from an extracted file from Prod or somewhere else named C:\Export.txt $Names = Get-Content -Path E:\Export.txt $WebApp = Get-SpWebApplication -identity https://webapp.domain.com $SQLServer = "sqlserver" foreach ($name in $Names){ invoke-expression 'cmd /c start powershell -Command { add-pssnapin microsoft.sharepoint.powershell; Mount-SPContentDatabase -Name $name -Webapplication $Webapp}' }5.6KViews0likes11Comments
