20 TopicsUnable to remove shared file access from specific organization-members
Hi, I got a similar problem as this thread: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/SharePoint/Modern-Site-members-can-share-but-can-t-remove-share-permissions/m-p/169659 But, we are unable to see or remove people on the same tenant that has been given access to a document. Well, we can see the user who got access if we go to advanced settings, but we cant remove individual people in the same organization. It works as a charm when we share outside our organization - we are able to see who got access and can remove the access without having to enter advanced settings. Currently the only way we are able to remove access to a shared file is to remove everyone's access and give back access to those in need, but I'm guessing this will be a bit tiresome after a while. Is there anyone else who have noticed the same and have an issue with this? Br, Thomas H9.5KViews0likes9CommentsExternal user access to the SharePoint Online library - howto
Hi everyone, I'm documenting this so as I found the related articles (see end of this post) were challenging to follow and didn't quite cover my scenario. My use case As an external user I need to to read ALL files in <company intranet> or other SharePoint online Library, but not have access to the entire site. Issues with Share button SharePoint online sharing is usually simple, select the file OR folder, click Share button, select type of sharing, enter email address of external user. BUT in this case the external user needs access to the ENTIRE library (all files and folders). If you go to the library e.g. https://<your365tenant>.sharepoint.com/sites/<sitename>/<libraryname> and click the SHARE Button in the top right of that page you aren't sharing the library but the entire site. To give an external user access to an entire SharePoint online library requires the following: URL of the library that needs to be shared Email address of the external user Then you need to For the 365 tenant check Azure active directory, to see if the external user already has a Guest account (if you can't do the following steps, you can share just one file from the library with the user, have them view it, and this creates the Azure account, once they've done it). go here https://aad.portal.azure.com/#blade/Microsoft_AAD_IAM/UsersManagementMenuBlade/MsGraphUsers search for external user email address if the user doesn't exist then click the "new guest user" choose invite user the external user will get an email, they have to click the "Accept invitation" link at the bottom in Azure AD you'll see that their account now says "invitation accepted" = Yes I ask the user to let me know that they've been redirected to myapplications.microsoft.com Now that the account exists you can share the library with it Go to the library URL , click the cog, click Library settings link click "Permissions for this document library" click "Grant permissions" click "invite people", enter the external user's email address, it should then resolve to the first name lastname from Azure AD click "show options" select the options you need this user to have click Share The user will get another email, that has a link to the library and they should have access. Errors and Fixes If the user get's an error like the following <User email> "can’t be found in the <your365tenant>.sharepoint.com directory error", Then I found I could resolve it by doing the following: Go to the following URL (update it with the site your library is in) https://<your365tenant>.sharepoint.com/sites/<sitename>/_layouts/15/people.aspx?MembershipGroupId=0 search through the list to find the external user mouse over the user's name, look at the link and find what this user's ID = you should see something like https://<your365tenant>.sharepoint.com/sites/<sitename>/_layouts/listform.aspx?PageType=4&ListId={EEB5FB7D-8DF6-4274-BB3F-072B95C134A6}&ID=609 note down the external user's ID number create the following URL using the external user's ID number in notepad https://<your365tenant>.sharepoint.com/sites/<sitename>/_layouts/15/userdisp.aspx?ID=<userIDnumber>&force=1 visit the URL you've built e.g. https://<your365tenant>.sharepoint.com/sites/<sitename>/_layouts/15/userdisp.aspx?ID=609&force=1 Now the user will be able to click on the link in the second email they got from the system, and will see the library contents rather than the error message. I hope this helps, it took me a couple of days to test and find this. But only 2 mins to do for subsequent users. D'avance merci.670Views0likes1CommentDepreciation of 'Shared with us' on Group Sites
In leu of the latest update to the document library on groups sites showing 'In channels' and 'In site library' sections, the 'Shared with us' menu item that allowed you to locate any resources shared with the group centrally has been removed. After contacting Microsoft support, they indicated that this feature is being depreciated. There has been no admin notifications, timeline, or indication of how users are expected to locate resources shared with the group from the group context. My question is what next? It cant be logical to just drop a feature that supported collaborative working without a viable alternative. The expectation can't be to direct people to Onedrive to find these in the share section there...it defeats the concept of group-centric working and going to one place to locate everything to do with that group.2.6KViews2likes6CommentsSharing and permissions on Sharepoint site

Hello, When I click on "get a link" on a document, the URL looks like this: https://orgname.sharepoint.com/:f:/r/sites/[Path to document] What is the purpose of "/:f:/r" in that URL? Most of the time it doesn't make any difference whether I keep it in the URL or not, and sometimes users get "url not found" because of that.Solved85KViews0likes14CommentsSharePoint external sharing doesn't work for new users
Hello, I'm currently facing a problem with external sharing. It works for existing guests but not for new guests anymore. It used to work until last week from what I know. Whatever settings in the sharing policies, I always have this message: Here are my current sharing settings. We set it to "anyone with the link" with the Microsoft Support but still not working: I tried everything. It looks like there is something down because it used to work and we made no change. I think it will require some PowerShell since we can't rely on the interface... Thank you.1.6KViews0likes3CommentsEnable "Anyone with the link" File Sharing Option by Default for New Sites
Is it possible to enable the "Anyone with the link" file sharing option by default for any new Teams sites in SharePoint? I've been requested to enable the "Anyone" link option for all Teams sites going forward. I noticed that any new Teams sites do not appear to allow this sharing option by default. I haven't found a way to change the template and I don't want to track and update the sharing setting for each site as new Teams are created. I've confirmed that the "Anyone" sharing option is allowed at the organization level, but I don't know how to make that the default for all new SharePoint sites created by Teams. Any thoughts or pointers would be appreciated.Solved2.4KViews0likes1CommentHow to change default sharing capability?
Hi, how it is possible to change default sharing capability for communication site and team site? Based on official documentation this is default - The default sharing setting for Office 365 group-connected team sites is "New and existing guests." The default for communication sites and classic sites is "Only people in your organization." I would like to change it and set "Only existing guests" for team sites. Thank you, MirekSolved2.8KViews0likes4CommentsNew sites not using the defined sharing settings
