Sharing Files but Email Notification Not Received
For the past week whenever we share a file the recipient is not receiving the email notification that a file has been shared with them. We're manually having to copy the shared link and send an additional email to let them know we've shared a file. Can someone share some insight? Hi all, I wanted to drop by and let interested folks know about a new feature we are rolling out to help users deal with "unhealthy" links! We've seen a few cases recently where a user makes some permission changes (such as breaking inheritance manually via permissions API's) that can cause sharing links to become unhealthy, which means the links exist but they no longer grant actual access to the item. In these cases, the sharing dialog still returns the link but the recipient will be unable to use it. To help with these cases, we've made a change to Manage Access to now show these unhealthy links along with a new string to help guide users. In order to use that type of sharing link again, users can delete the existing link and then create a new one. Please note that in some cases, re-sharing the item with the same settings can often allow the service to automatically fix the link with no end user impact. External Sharing - Registered with Microsoft Account
Hi all, We had a user share a OneDrive folder with an external user. The external user clicked the link and was prompted for a Microsoft login after entering their email address. My guess is that at some stage, they associated their work email with a Microsoft account and forgot about it? Anyway, I'm just wondering is it possible to allow external users use a One Time Passcode for situations like this? Or would they have to reset their MS account? I could be wrong with what happened here, just my best guess.
OneDrive sharing with groups
Hello, We have a M365 group that has around 130 users in it and used it to share a file every week to users. Now all of a sudden it has stopped working and displays the message below: I have tried recreating the group and it still does the same thing. I have tried other M365 groups and they seem to work just fine. I tried recreating this group as a mail-enabled security group with no luck as well. This happens in both the web and desktop app versions of OneDrive as well as the Office Desktop Apps. Any help is greatly appreciated!
People with existing access - why?
I kind of understand the rationale behind this option, but for end users it doesn't make sense to me. Why would they choose this option in the first place? Even if they knew the recipient has already access why would they share it again? How do end users know if the recipient has already access? They don't.They type it in, get the message that the recipient doesn't have access, they choose another option like Specific People and never use People with existing access again Please convince me to change my mind 🙂 And by the way, why is this not the same as the Sharing settings?
