Hoping you can help with an ongoing issue I have. I have a PowerBi dashboard I built using regular account to fetch some SharePoint lists and uploaded it to PowerBi for others to view Now in PowerBi portal I want to change the credential from my account to an SPN. I've read what feels like a thousand articles describing the process to create the SPN 99% all the same. Yet when I go into Powerbi portal, edit the semantic model for the dashboard, click edit credentials, select Service Principal put in the tenant ID the Service principal ID (yes using the app id, in fact I tried everything) the service principal key (the secret) and choose any privacy level it fails 100% of the time. Error is: Failed to update data source credentials: The credentials provided for the SharePoint source are invalid. Same error regardless of what privacy level I choose. I'm sure the secret is correct also. Just for fun I tried the Secret ID and the Object ID in place of the Application ID for the Service principal ID field. All failed same error. I'm sure the secret is correct also. The SPN has Graph sites.read.all, Graph user.read and SharePoint Sites.Read.All api permissions configured. All are consented. Everything seems right but gives me the error failed to retrieve oauth token 100% of the time. Am i missing something else? More API permissions maybe? Do i still need ot actually add the SPN to the Sharepoint site itself even though I has API permissions SharePoint Sites.Read.All? I've done days of research and all I find is lots of people with same or similar issue but not resolution. Is this a bug? Help me I'm desperate to get this fixed or I'm going to have to allow people to bypass MFA across my organization which I cant have.183Views0likes1CommentOffice updater logs false “UpdateEnabled not found” warning despite registry compliance
Body: OfficeClickToRun.exe logs the following during scheduled updates: Code UpdateEnabled property not found in registry. Click-to-Run client found. Triggering update... Office update routine completed. However, all relevant registry flags under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun are correctly set (UpdateEnabled, EnableAutomaticUpdates, OfficeAutomaticUpdates, etc. = 1). ProcMon confirms the updater queries this path, yet logs NAME NOT FOUND. Updates still succeed (LastScenarioResult: Success), so this appears to be a cosmetic error from legacy registry validation. It confuses admins and monitoring systems. Ask: Can Microsoft standardize updater checks to avoid false warnings? Is this legacy logic still active in current Office builds?24Views0likes0CommentsWindows Sound Problem

Our schools heavily use the Microsoft Translator application on iOS and Android devices. Starting 10/2 all devices have started receiving the following error message "Cannot create a new conversation, please try again". This has been tested on iOS and Android devices and on multiple networks to verify the issue isn't related to filtering / firewall rules. Application has also been uninstalled / reinstalled and still receive the same error. It's clear this is affecting lots of customers yet we can't get any response from Microsoft on the issue. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5580071/microsoft-translator-conversation-feature-stopped?comment=question#comment-2261689111Views0likes2CommentsPDF figures inserted in Word exhibit black background
I am using Word for Mac to prepare a manuscript. I inserted a PDF figure with transparent background, which was created with Adobe Illustrator. It looks fine on my Mac. But when I transfer the document to a Windows computer, the transparent background of the figure becomes black. For other Office softwares, such as PowerPoint, similar issues also happen. I know if I convert the figure to png format would fix the issue. But I still want to stick on the PDF format since it's vector image and compatible with LaTeX. Can you figure out why is this happening and how to fix it? Thanks!!63Views0likes1Comment“Word Online Transcribe shows ‘Go Premium’ despite active Microsoft 365 Family subscription”
On all of my Chromebook devices, Word Online Transcribe shows ‘Go Premium’ despite an active Microsoft 365 Family subscription. So, I'm effectively blocked from using that function because it requires an upgrade that I already have. I have already contacted support. Support replied: Microsoft confirmed a recent bug where Transcribe incorrectly showed “Upgrade to Premium” for active subscribers. The fix was rolled back, but cached tokens may still cause issues. Clearing cookies or signing in via InPrivate usually resolves this. The “Go Premium” message in Word Online’s Transcribe feature is a known bug, not a new paywall, and it persists for some Microsoft 365 subscribers even with an active plan. However, their suggested fixes (clearing cache, reinstalling PWA, updating Chrome OS, setting language to English US) have not resolved this problem for me. Support was not able to provide any further potential solutions. They suggested using OneNote dictation, which uses the same transcription protocol, but I haven't figured out how to use it on OneNote, as I typically don't use it. Also, the main use case for me is to upload recorded content and having Word Online transcribe with time stamps and speaker labels. Other than buying another service to do this, MS Word Online was the best way to achieve this.215Views0likes7CommentsMicrosoft Forms flagged phishing. No admin path to unblock Case #7084487321
Hello, I am a paying Microsoft 365 Family subscriber and recently created a Microsoft Form to coordinate a student outing. Unfortunately, the form was flagged as phishing because it included fields like “Name” and “Email.” The form is now completely blocked, and the “Collect Responses” button is disabled. I contacted Microsoft Support (Case #7084487321). The agents explained that: Personal/Family accounts cannot access the Admin Center → Health → Message Center, where flagged forms can normally be reviewed. Only a global or security administrator in an organizational (work/school) tenant can unblock flagged forms. As a Family subscriber, there is no escalation path to have a non-malicious form reviewed or released. This effectively means that Microsoft Forms is unusable for its basic purpose (collecting names/emails) under a Family subscription. I was transferred to Billing, who suggested I either cancel my subscription or “leave feedback.” My questions to the Forms/Product Team: Can you confirm whether this limitation is by design for personal/Family accounts? If so, why is this not made clear in Microsoft 365 Family product documentation or marketing materials? What recourse do paying Family subscribers have if Forms is blocked and there is no administrator to request review? I feel misled as a paying subscriber because a core feature is effectively disabled. I would like official clarification from Microsoft Forms engineering/product management, and guidance on whether Family subscribers should expect that Forms is not intended for collecting names/emails. Thank you for your time.59Views0likes0CommentsConvert to PDF not working on One Note (mac)
I am no longer able to convert my One Note pages to PDF on mac. The end of the One Note page does not shows on my PDF document and some pages do not appear. It worked fine a few weeks ago and still works on Windows. Microsoft support could not help me and thought it might be a bug. Is there something I can do?84Views0likes1CommentMS 365 Group Mailbox - New Outlook Search Not Working
We have just received a troubled call stating that the Search Feature inside of the MS 365 Group Mailboxes is not working. I reviewed this, and it is the same for all MS 365 Group Mailboxes, while the search feature dose work with all personal mailboxes. We are on the New Outlook platform and this issue is occurring for both Installed and web version of Outlook. Has anyone run across this or know of a fix? Thank You187Views0likes1CommentQuestion/Bug Report on OneNote Ruler
I am a Student from Germany and have recently stumbled upon a very annoying bug in OneNote: The scale on the ruler is bricked! Here you can see what I mean: The paper I am using is squared 5mm. The problem persists when using other sizes though. The funny thing about this is that apparently the scaling of the ruler was given some thought, since it does change the size of its scale when you zoom in or out for example. What is don´t realize is what the reference for it is? Its certainly not a millimeter scale. The option to change the scale on the ruler or changing it automatically depending on the selected unit of measurement in the settings would be very helpful and appreciated! (I have tried selecting different units in the settings but this does not seem to affect the scale of the ruler...) I think a lot of students would benefit a lot from this and from my personal experience of talking to other students at my uni, I can confirm, that this a big reason for people to switch to something like Xournal++ or GoodNotes. Especially in technical classes where you often need to draw something accurately... What do you think about this and would this be an issue that could be resolved in a future update?151Views0likes2Comments
