I have access to a shared Windows folder as part of a Active Directory group on a network. I need to set the permissions on the folder for the rest of the organization to Write Only. No one other then the specific AD group or Administrators should have anything other then write access. Please note that the share is not in OneDrive nor Office 365. This is a standard network share. Using OneDrive or Office 365 is not an option in this case. I have seen several resources which suggest that setting the share permissions to "Full Control" for domain users and then setting more restrictive NTFS permissions might work but I am having a problem identifying how to accomplish this. There does not seem to be a lot of documentation on write only access as compared to read only. Can anyone advise? Thank you4.9KViews0likes1CommentBulk Removal of Access for User
I have an employee on my team that is moving to another role in another department of our company. How do I find all files that were shared with him and revoke access to them? I have not been able to find that anywhere on the OneDrive page on the portal. I've looked at One Drive -> Shared -> Shared by You and I cannot find anything that would show just what is shared with that user. I have a team of 5 people and I share files with many people in the company (I own important documents like Policies and Procedures and assessments that are shared with many people, so I cant just nuke everything.) Is there an easy way to revoke access for one user? He will not need access to anything that I have stored in his new role.1.7KViews0likes1CommentRemove deletion permission for certain users in cloud folders
Hi all, My company currently purchased OneDrive for Business license (plan 1) because we have the need to handle file containers in cloud. Our need is particular. We need to have one (or more users) able to upload files in this cloud container (a folder with subfolders too), but unable to delete even the files they uploaded. Read permission could be available for some of these users. Obviously we will have a "superuser" able to do everything on that container. I thought that OneDrive for Business could have a proper way to manage permissions, but I still didn't find this. IMHO the biggest problem is avoid deletion of files for the docs yet loaded by the user, because he is the owner of those docs. Do you have any idea how to approach this issue? Even if you think that OneDrive FB is not the right idea, feel free to propose alternatives. Thanks in advance for your support. Germano EDIT: important update - The companywould prefer a solution in which the user with limited privileges (read folders content and upload new files, but neither editing nor deleting the uploaded files or the files yet on folders) can see the cloud folders in a filesystem view (typical Windows like) and using features like drag&drop file uploading, for example.1.9KViews1like4CommentsFolders appear shared on personal OneDrive
Hi everyone, I have an issue where all folders on my personal OneDrive display the the folder icon as shared, as seen on the screetschot attached. Folders in Libraries (group) do not show this icon, which would make more sense to me since I share content there with another member of the organisation (the only other member of the organisation, at that). I sync my OneDrive to three places: 1) laptop, 2) iPhone, 3) iPad and can't recall sharing anything at all from my user. Any idea what can cause this or is it just a bug? I just want to make sure there's not a loophole somewhere in my permissions that I'm missing due to my limited experience with OneDrive. I'm wondering if it's something to do with permissions on a more "global" sharepoint scale, which is if that's the case, out of my expertise. Thanks in advance, Regards8.4KViews1like8CommentsShare folder with diferent permissions on subfolders
Hello everyone, The question is about sharing folders on the OneDrive. I have a main folder, which will be shared, and within that there are two sub folders, one that would only be for viewing and the other for editing. Is it possible to make this kind of sharing? This is supposed to be with a external person and i didn't want to share the sub folders separately avoiding them to have to save and confirm the two links. Thank you23KViews0likes4Comments
