Office Add-ins error: Cannot connect to catalog
One of our admin-managed add-ins (Adobe Sign) has gone AWOL from the ribbon of the Word desktop app recently (it still shows up in the web-app version of Word). One of the suggested troubleshooting steps is to check review the Office Add-ins from within the app itself. When doing so, I receive an error: Insert ribbon-->Add-ins section-->My Add-ins-->See all...-->Admin Managed "Cannot connect to catalog" I've tried: signing out, back in, clearing the Office cache, and redeploying the add-in from central management. The deployment always reports that it was successful. Can anyone else reproduce this "Cannot connect to catalog" issue, or suggest additional troubleshooting steps/workarounds?
How to fix "upload pending" error message in Microsoft word
I dealt with this frustrating issue for over a year, but here's how you can fix it. Example image: How to fix: 1. Make sure Finder is open and all office apps are closed, including Microsoft Word. 2. Click on "GO" in the top bar. 3. Once the drop down menu descends, hold down the OPTION key on your keyboard. You'll see that a folder called "LIBRARY" appears. Click on "LIBRARY". 4. Once inside "LIBRARY", click on a folder called "CONTAINERS." 5. Scroll down until you find a folder called "com.microsoft.Word". 6. Once you've found it, delete "com.microsoft.Word" off your computer. 7. Now, reopen Microsoft Word, and make sure the upload pending error message is gone. It should be, and you should now be able to delete the file if you so choose. Also, if you're experiencing this problem with Excel and/or Powerpoint, you can probably fix it the same way. You'd just have to delete "com.microsoft.Excel" and/or "com.microsoft.Powerpoint" respectively, instead of "com.microsoft.Word". All the steps leading up to that would remain the same. I really hope this helps other people who are dealing with this problem. And if for some reason it doesn't work for you, reach out to Microsoft support while signed into your Microsoft account and get into a chat room. Chatting with a specialist was the only reason I was able to figure this out in the first place.
How to mail merge and change font size and date in word?
Hi I wish mircosoft Word had remote help ... I have a couple of issues with my mail marge document which i am trying to make labels to print on to a sticker. I have create a spread sheet to merge the information but when I merge the field I only see I print preview page so can not check each sticker to see if I have information correct at moment the label appears looks like this : Basic Seams > R01 Plain Seam pressing veiw (WS) Flat Linda Barnes 9/1/2022 But I wish it to look something Like this: Basic Seams > ( in sert the word Lesson)R01 Plain Seam pressing veiw (WS) ( in sert the word Press view)Flat Linda Barnes September 2022 Not sure if this is helpful. regards and Thanks Linda
Draw Table and Eraser tools not in Table Tools Layout Tab
In MS Word for Office 365 Business and Office 365 Pro, the "draw table" and "eraser" buttons do not show up on the tool bar. I have tried to add them by using the customize ribbon features but have been unsuccessful. On two different computers, these two tools are unavailable which really makes adjusting/creating tables difficult, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Microsoft Word file names changing to .~WRD[4 Digits] and then deleting themselves
I have multiple word documents saved on an external hard drive. After upgrading to Microsoft Word for Mac Version 16.55 (21111400) and upgrading my mac to Mac OS Catalina Version 10.15.7, I started noticing issues when trying to save Word documents on my external hard drive. When I try to hit Command+Save (and sometimes before I even try to save), the file name changes to .~WRD followed by 4 random digits. Then I get an error message stating "Additional permissions are required to access the following files: /Volumes/G-DRIVE mobile USB-C/.Te...ing Saved by Word 170)/.~WRD3512." When I hit the "Select" button, I am then taken to a menu that says "Please select the file .~WRD3512." But no file appears and I cant select "Grant Access." So I click cancel. When I try to select File > Save, I get the message: This document’s file has been changed by another application since you opened or saved it. The changes made by the other application will be lost if you save. Save anyway? If I select save, I get taken back to the Grant File Access page described above. So I cant save the document. Then, when I try to close out the document, it gives me the prompt: Do you want to save the changes made to the document “.~WRD3512 [Compatibility Mode]”? Your changes will be lost if you don't save them. In the case of the lost document, since I couldn't save, I had to click "Don't Save." Then, I saw that neither the original document was in the folder nor was the renamed document. So my document completely disappeared, despite years of working on it and saving it multiple times. Since it was on an external hard drive, Time Machine didn't back it up and I have no idea where it is. Im absolutely mortified and stressed as this was a very long and important document. I simply cannot understand or believe how this happened. Has anyone had a similar problem to this? Do you know how I can recover the file? Does anyone know why this happened / what is happening? Any info would be greatly appreciated
Ignore all in Word Editor
I am working on a Surface with Windows 11 I am having difficulty understanding how the Grammar function in Word works. I have three questions: 1) Why does word as you are working through grammatical errors continue to add more errors even as you are eliminating them? 2) If you are working with a large document with over a thousand grammatical errors, some of them more style than substance like a preference for participles, if you choose "ignore all" when confronted with a participle like "the boy stood his ground, hoping not to be..." rather than he hoped etc. is ignore all going to ignore only this particular configuration where the word "hoping" is used? 3) If when working with a large document one with over a thousand errors, in which for stylistic reasons you use "ignore once" how can you save those changes so that when you close and then reopen you aren't confronted with those previous errors you already dealt with?
