I setup search filters in Microsoft 365 on All and Files verticals, they only appear when I search through the Organization scope, but when I search from a hubsite or a site, the filters don't appear. Someone guided me to the documentation where I need to setup filters on every single site. But it's a problem if we want to show filters on all newly created sites by default. Is there a way to have custom filters on verticals appear on all sites automatically?293Views0likes0CommentsMicrosoft Search Question using SharePoint and File Share Connector
Hello, It is my understanding that when using Microsoft Search as it comes out of the box, when you run a search it is supposed to show results from ALL content sources connected, showing results from each source in a result cluster (at least that is what I am reading and what most of the MS Marketing videos I have looked at seem to show). My experience, however, seems that results are always based on the default results source in the system, which is Local SharePoint Results (yet I thought that the Microsoft Search uses the All vertical by default?). Anyone else seeing this behavior? Specifically, in my environment I have created a content source using the MS Graph File Share connector, which is indexing properly and does return results. I have also created a vertical for it. But when I go to use Microsoft Search and enter a value that I know returns data from the connector source, initially I get no results (using the Microsoft Search field). I have to actually click on the vertical that I created for the connector data source and then I get results. Shouldn't the default Microsoft Search return results from ALL sources initially, and then you can use the defined verticals to actually trim down those results? Am I missing something here? Thanks for any insight ...2KViews0likes5CommentsMulti Select Person or Group as filter in custom vertical is not parsed as single value in MS Search
I've created a custom search vertical under Microsoft Search settings in a modern SharePoint Online site collection. There are couple of fields which are multi select Managed Metadata and Person or Group fields. The data is stored in them in the format which is given as follows: Company (Managed Metadata) - ABC Inc; XYZ Pvt Ltd Author (Person or Group) - User1;User2 (display names) The above 2 fields are used as filters and the respective RefinableString managed properties are used with corresponding crawled properties. Company - OWS_Company (managed metadata), OWS_Company2 (lookup), OWS_CompanyName (multiple lines of text) Author - OWS_Author When we try to filter the search results, the available options in the dropdown are shown in the format that is stored in the library instead of showing single values for the person or group column and it displays correct values (single values) for the managed metadata field. Current Format Company ABC Inc XYZ PVt Ltd Author User1;User2 Desired Format Company ABC Inc XYZ PVt Ltd Author User1 User2 The Company field's (managed metadata) managed property has 3 fields crawled properties mapped to it of type Managed Metadata, Lookup and Multiple lines of text whereas the Author (person or group) field only has one crawled property of type person or group. Based on PnP Community support and a related reddit thread, this is a search API issue for which the fix has been rolled out few months back but we are currently still seeing this issue. Any thoughts or ideas on how to resolve this? https://github.com/microsoft-search/pnp-modern-search/issues/2096 https://www.reddit.com/r/sharepoint/comments/uvv3vw/sharepoint_online_multiuser_refinement_tokens_too/738Views0likes0CommentsSharePoint Online Document check-in comment search managed property
Hi, when you check-in a document you are able to enter comments which are stored with the version You are able to see this comment in the version history My question is, does anyone know what the managed or crawled search property is for this field? A built in managed property must exist as I can search for this item successfully using the comment text I entered:884Views0likes0CommentsMultilingual Searchability for Site Name and Term Store
Hello, As someone who works constantly with multilingual organizations, I do want to take the opportunity to share some frustrations around the limits of the current multilingual support. While many are grateful to see some subtle but useful improvements like elevating the labelling of translations into the UI (e.g., Site Name, Site Description, Navigation Links, etc.) there are some really big gaps for large enterprise clients. I'll focus on a couple here: 1. Site Name Currently the Site Name is only searchable by its original name, not any of its translations. A French user, for example, may not know the Site by any other name than what he/she sees in French, so this result in Search is very confusing. I understand this is likely the current product of the fact that only original values are being indexed, (while translations are being swapped in on the fly) we do need to be able to search by by crucial properties in alternate languages otherwise we are delivering a seriously sub-par experience to these users. My only current workaround is to add the French Site Name to the site's English Description which does help connect the dots but does not solve the root problem. Example adding the French site name in the English description 2. Term Store This same problem plagues the effective searchability of metadata. While I am the first to applaud the updated Term Store, the inability to search by translations is a huge thorn in the side of any organization attempting to leverage effective content management. Any updates would be greatly appreciated and I'll be happy to disseminate them.1.6KViews4likes1CommentHow do I add people as returned search results on our SharePoint Homesite?
Our company uses Sharepoint Online Modern Experience as intranet platform. I have set up our intranet startpage as the SharePoint Homesite and have several Hub Sites created as well. So far so good. However the Microsoft Search on top of the Intranet startpage (SharePoint Homesite) seems faulty. The search field fails to show results-as-you-type and it completely omits People from the search results. If I enter "View all site settings > Microsoft Search > Configure Search Settings" I can see that the only "verticals" setup are: All, Files, Sites, News. Notice how People are not among them... Adding people as a vertical seems not be an option... How do I: 1) Add people to the returned search results? 2) Turn on "show results as you type" I guess basically the question is: How do I get the same search functionality on our intranet's start page as we enjoy on the SharePoint Startpage? Any help would be much appreciated.1.1KViews0likes2CommentsCannot submit flow when SharePoint list item is found through search
Hi, When a SharePoint list item is found through search (directly in the SharePoint list or site), the item is shown as a single item in the list, and that's fine, it’s how it should behave. However, the possibility to initiate a flow on this selected item is not there. We’ve integrated a button in the list column formatting, it shows but doesn’t work either.
